Watch the Purdue game again. It's on YouTube.

Thanks for the tip! With no March Madness, and a whole lot of house time, it’s good to know about things that can ease our collective Basketball Jones!

RE: Want to get pumped back up?
Lots of great games on YouTube. I'm watching the 1984 finals right now - Ewing vs. Olajuwon.

Ewing had a great turnaround jumper in the lane.

Now I am watching NC State's win over UCLA in the 1974 semis. David Thompson is the most explosive and exciting player I ever watched play. Really amazing.

RE: Want to get pumped back up?
I went down the list of Final Fours and looked at the games that were on YouTube. I now have a good list of games to watch between now and the time basketball (maybe) starts again.

Watching Indiana State's in over Fayetteville in 1979. Even in college Larry Bird was amazing.

I see little chance of a "normal" college football season (i.e. a full 12 game season; fans allowed to fill up stadiums, etc.). Maybe a shortened season without fans is possible, but I doubt it. I am now getting seriously concerned about college basketball for next year.

RE: Want to get pumped back up?
Let's not panic yet.

And, in all reality, if we lose getting to watch basketball, we really have not lost much. The article that I did for the Booneville and Charleston papers last week was about the 1918 flu epidemic. Those numbers are really staggering, and make our little problem today seem pretty tame, especially with the resources they had to deal with it. A good friend of mine called me last night to comment that his grandmother's family contracted influenza during that period. Both parents and ten children all sick with it at the same time. Grandma nursed them through it.

In the meantime, I have identified 118 games on YouTube that I want to watch. Last night I took in the 1982 Georgetown win over Louisville in the semis. Patrick Ewing was amazing even as a freshman.

Watching Northwestern and Notre Dame in the 1983 NIT. Remember a kid named Kempton?

RE: Want to get pumped back up?
So far I have identified 197 games on YouTube that I would like to watch, which is more than enough to carry me to basketball season (assuming we have one). Right now I'm watching Ralph Sampson and the Hoos vs. Washington State back in 1983.

The fun part about this is that I remember watching some of these games live the first time around.

RE: Want to get pumped back up?
It is a little strange watching games from the '70s and '80s and seeing pull-up jump shots. Rare bird these days.

I am learning some things as I watch these. For example, I did not realize Georgetown-Syracuse was a big a rivalry as it is, especially back in Big John's day.

I am watching Northwestern and Notre Dame from 1983. Remember Tim Kempton, the big center for ND the year we beat them? He was a freshman in this game.

RE: Want to get pumped back up?
Watching Richmond beat Auburn back in 1984. I enjoyed it because I don't like the SEC, don't like Auburn, don't particularly care for Sir Charles, and I have kind of liked Richmond since Chris Mooney became their coach.
