College Football: Kirk Herbstreit getting backlash
Herbstreit is getting a ton of backlash this afternoon because he stated he would be "shocked" if there is a NFL or college football season this upcoming fall. Note, I don't want this to be political at all. No place for that here.

I, like millions of others, hope Kirk H is shocked. Buuuuuut, I think his thought process is sound. No vaccine in place (potentially) for another year. No proof at all - in fact some small evidence completely false - that warmer weather will improve things. And so forth.

I'd go farther on Herbstreit's point and predict there's no way there will be a MLB or MLS or perhaps PGA Tour season this year. Hard to see (at this point) NFL or college FB stadiums jamming 90 thousand people into stadiums or guys sweating and being in very close range of one another in locker rooms. OTA's for the NFL at minimum are unlikely to happen in May thru July.

Would a NFL owner be willing to risk millions of dollars in assets to potentially wipe out his/her entire team taking a risk? Way down the road I know, but something definitely worth thinking about. This doesn't mean local restaurants and businesses won't be closer to normal by Labor Day, but no guarantee (I won't say "shocked"...yet) there will be a football season this fall. We could still be fighting this - even if in a lesser form - by August.

Fingers crossed that won't be the case.

I think he is sound in his judgement. However, I fan see a lot of pissed off people if it were to happen.

RE: College Football: Kirk Herbstreit getting backlash
The NCAA just reduced its distribution of money going out to all universities due to no March Madness this year. If football is canceled this will put a lot of schools’ athletics budgets in a huge bind as it is of course the major revenue-generator for many that pays for the rest of the non/less-revenue programs. Let’s hope not but something to definitely keep an eye on as we progress thru the calendar.
