Exclamation What Gill has to say and Herbie says shut it down
https://www.al.com/sports/2020/03/sun-be...eason.html

If football, as a whole, doesn’t happen in the fall, many sports programs could be gone.

Kirk Herbstreit says he doesn’t see there being a football season this fall. How can you shut something down that is still 5 months away.

https://www.al.com/sports/2020/03/kirk-h...id-19.html

B1G commish says possibility of games played with no fans.

https://www.al.com/sports/2020/03/big-12...-fans.html

What say you all???

RE: What Gill has to say and Herbie says shut it down
Player (student) safety is paramount but I hope we have a handle on this by the end of Summer. If they allow the students to return to campus then I can't see why we wouldn't have fall sports.

I appreciate what Herbie thinks, but He's really laying on the idea that the current numbers being correct. The reality is they don't scratch the surface.

It's really hard to answer on football without having a clear idea of how many people have actually already been sick.

We are not all gonna die immediately, but without football it will seem like purgatory..

Over 40% on this board currently believe football goes on "without a hitch". Are you living in a cocoon? Maybe we have football and maybe we don't, but nothing is going off without a hitch in the foreseeable future.

I think most of us understand it’s going to be complicated but don’t except any scenario in which we’re still shut down in September. Virus or not. Life has to go on at some point.

Football will be played in the fall. Fans in their seats along with the cheer leaders and bad ref's.

From what I am hearing, Sports will be cleared to go on in Late May to Early june. At that point virus counts will be low enough that the danger to players will be minimal. Whether or not fans will be allowed in for a while is another story.

I've heard some speculation that gatherings will be given the go ahead in the Summer, as will domestic travel, but that venues where thousands of people get together would likely be kept closed until either a vaccine or treatment is developed.

So Little Rock and ASU basketball should be good to go.

If theres no football then theres a strong possibility there's no school either. It would be counter intuitive to have classes with tens of thousands of people on campus from across the country if theyre worried about football spreading/prolonging the disease.

That's true, but colleges can certainly get through Fall semester with online classes only. Online football is more problematic. Summer college classes are just a couple of months away, so a decision on those has to be made pretty soon. Don't see those happening, but I am somewhat more optimistic about the Fall.

Does anyone find it ironic that we all complained about Liberty being an internet diploma mill, compared to all other FBS schools, yet they are now the college with students actually on campus?

No because their President is an idiot. 12 students have been diagnosed with Covid-19. And, out of the 1900 (out of 15,000 students) who showed back up, 800 have already left and gone back home. Real bright move by Liberty.

And became the classic test case for why you don't do things too soon at the same time.

Look, I'm almost certain that we are a lot farther along in this than most believe, given that 50 percent of the cases are asymptomatic. But the idea we were ready to send a bunch of college students back to campus in two weeks was a bit silly.

Its possible to reopen K-12 schools in Mid to late April, there's no point in trying to call College Students back.

We practiced social distancing in 5/6 home games last year. You’re welcome, America.

If we played back at Ladd for 1 more year, There would be plenty of room for social distancing except for the Troy game.
