RE: [COVID-19 MEGATHREAD]
Georgetown men’s basketball Coach Patrick Ewing has tested positive for the coronavirus and is being treated at a hospital, he announced Friday night on Twitter in a statement released through the school.

“I want to share that I have tested positive for COVID-19,” Ewing said in the statement. “This virus is serious and should not be taken lightly. I want to encourage everyone to stay safe and take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Now more than ever, I want to thank the healthcare workers and everyone on the front lines. I’ll be fine and we will all get through this.”

Ewing, 57, wanted to share the diagnosis to emphasize the wide-reaching nature of the coronavirus pandemic, according to the statement. No other members of the basketball team tested positive.

Late to the party

Perhaps those ATL Gold Club transgressions might have portended today's news

A few morons or someone who gets to wear the "In Charge" badge closing down an entire state with a dozen deaths under the age of 60, closing down entire states when there are 30 people in ICU beds, telling tens of millions of people that they can't buy paint, can't buy seeds for their gardens, arresting people and fining them hundreds of dollars for social distancing in their boat or in a park?

Focus Einstein. Let's see what your snowflake brain can come up with.

Then there's this from the Bay Area...

Bay Area suicides up, amid Stay At Home order

Doctors at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek say they have seen more deaths by suicide during this quarantine period than deaths from the COVID-19 virus.

The head of the trauma in the department believes mental health is suffering so much, it is time to end the shelter-in-place order.

"Personally I think it's time," said Dr. Mike deBoisblanc. "I think, originally, this (the shelter-in-place order) was put in place to flatten the curve and to make sure hospitals have the resources to take care of COVID patients. We have the current resources to do that and our other community health is suffering."

The numbers are unprecedented, he said.

"We've never seen numbers like this, in such a short period of time," he said. "I mean we've seen a year's worth of suicide attempts in the last four weeks."

I have a great family, lots of friends, do lots of fun activities, but I also live alone, work from home and am happy and enjoy having time to myself. I go a bit stir crazy sometimes and have pangs of boredom.

I can't imagine how people that are predisposed to feeling lonely or depressed feel. It must be absolutely heartbreaking.

I'm no snowflake and surely you aren't condoning this behavior, especially the coughing, spitting at people.

I'm not much on wearing masks but I ventured out to Harbor Frieght and Wally World today. Saw folks acting downright ignorant regardless how you feel about Covid.

Maybe things are getting back to normal after all.

I don't understand it...

Costco is even willing to supply you with a mask...If it is too much of a hassle don't go. Plenty of other places to spend your money.

Some people are completely brainless. The same type of people who consider it an infringement on their freedom if they are nearly blind and have to wear eyeglasses while driving.

I don't go anywhere that requires me to wear a mask. Fortunately there aren't many places like that in Memphis.

That twitter video/compilation is an indictment of how f*cked this country is, regardless of circumstance.

Hardly anyone knows what the hell the Constitution provides, yet most people brandish it as freely as a weapon anyway.

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

As far as I am concerned, intentionally coughing on someone is the same as assault. Should be arrested and go through the court process for an assault. Spitting on someone is absolutely an assault. Under the circumstances I could even push for aggravated assault.

His heart is in the right place...

But he far from being accurate.

Wearing a mask doesn't protect you...So if I have a sick parent at the house me wearing a mask doesn't protect my sick parent but it does protect those around you from your germs.

It is such a small courtesy...Not asking a ton. Heck I am guilty about not wearing one as well...

If someone asked me to wear a mask in their store I would treat it the same as someone asking me to take off my shoes...I will respect their wishes because it is important to them.

Protection depends on the mask. My son has an N-99 and I have n-95 for register work and going out on the town.

And any cloth covering does keep your exploding wet particles in more than bareface. If it didn't, more of our medical personnel would be infected and/or dead.

Look at Japan, if you want an example of mask wearing.

The presidential motorcade arrived at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, at 10:27 a.m. ET, according to pool reports. Secret Service members with Trump at the golf course were wearing masks, although the President and his golfing partners were not. The President was seen riding alone in his golf cart and a caddy didn't appear to be with him.
