Mussissippi needs to open up tomorrow. It's Spring. This all a bunch of bullsh*t. Summer colds are always the worst.

based on this tweet, “sky is falling” Dan Wolken is trying to push the narrative that we will have to cancel CFB season if we don’t have a 2 month lockdown

Nonsense. Everyone will not get this. Everyone will not even be exposed to it.

Made up numbers. Two weeks ago theses geniuses were saying we would have 60, 000 deaths by now. Sorta like global warming will end the world in 10 years. Fear mongering.

So the Mecklenburg County Stay at Home order seems like overreach? I'm pissed about it, as I have a major home remodel that is now on hold due to this.

Why is it on hold? All of the stay at home orders I've seen don't apply to contractors.

The exceptions are New York City (100 deaths there with a population of 8 million) - and many of the other New York deaths (185) and New Jersey (62) are pretty close to NYC, one would assume, and New Orleans (400K population, 37 deaths already). Detroit and Oakland County is another area whose numbers are going up pretty dramatically. It's possible Atlanta is another area of concern (there are now 47 deaths in Georgia but I'm not sure where the bulk of those have occurred).

I think we need to figure out what's happening there to spike up the numbers. I don't believe it's as simple as big cities with Democratic mayors. If that was your reason, then why only 1 death currently in San Francisco proper and 2 in Harris County (4.6 million people)?

I don't know where all the deaths are in Georgia, but the 5 central Atlanta MSA counties have 44% of the cases. The rest of the Atlanta MSA and Athens has another 26% of the cases. Albany has 12% and 12 of the 147 deaths.

Note that he doesn't show what happens in October in the 2 month scenario. He cuts it off just as the curve starts to shoot up.

Yes, it's true, a virus does need a host.

Eh, don't knock him too hard. It's rare he looks at data and draws a logical conclusion. We should applaud the effort.

I agree. Well-done, DavidSt!

What I see is the person-to-person transmission is not exaggerated.

The virus on surfaces and in the air transmissions almost certainly are exaggerated.

This would explain the kind of outbreak patterns we are seeing.

That's your contractors choice I suppose. The proclamation said Contractors including, but not limited to [insert list here].

I own a flooring business in Charlotte (I'll do a nice Marshall color scheme garage floor for you if you want 03-wink ), and I'm not shutting down unless a state order comes that forces me to.

420 people die every day in NYC alone. This death count for the entire state has been over the course of 2 MONTHS. So.,on average 27,300 people have died in NYC ALONE since Jan. 20th. So 150xs more people have died from something other than CoVid19 in NYC ALONE. This is a non event in my state of Mississippi. Nearly 400 positive test and three deaths. All of which wete older people with health probs. Nail salons and bars opening up. Just saw a local bar selling crawfish dockside on a Facebook post. 85 and sunny. Boat ramps were packed last weekend.

stink stopped at two bars on the way home yesterday that people don't 'know' are open....

You could be right. But since there's no way we'll test everyone, I'm approaching it from the perspective of what number it takes to reach heard immunity. I tend to think for the US that will be about 75% of the population.

The issue for me is that flattening the curve could give the virus a chance to mutate.

Exactly. My issue with the current course of action is that there is no end game other than a cure/vaccine. We cant keep this up for 12-18 months. Just two weeks has done real damage to the economy. A month would do even more. I cant imagine the damage if this goes on for "months".

But, we were hearing a month ago that, as evidenced by S. Korea, the more you test the fewer that die.

What isn't being considered in these numbers is the number of people that have had this and died over the past few years, that were just written off as dying from pneumonia.

Arkansas Department Of Health Update Map

This interactive map points out where the cases are, the data for the state and data for the country. 1046 deaths across the country and pushing to 70,000 cases.

WorldMeter's List By Country

Under the USA, the number of serious or critical number is at 1455 and counting. More people are being hospitalized in all 50 states and our territories.

There are only over 600+ recovered from this. We are having a bad record of recovery rate.
