House Republicans preparing health care bill
https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/...eform-plan

Of course its just a campaign platform since Putin's puppet Pelosi will never let it see the light of day.

"...According to Scalise, key elements of the plan will include:

Protecting patients with pre-existing conditions.
Allowing Americans to shop across state lines for cheaper insurance.
Ending the practice of drug companies paying generic manufacturers to make cheaper versions of popular but expensive medicines
Ending hidden/surprise hospital, testing and doctor charges that arrive later in the mail.
Getting rid of middlemen in the medical supply chain who drive up the costs of drugs, procedures and equipment or interfere in treatment decisions.
Scalise said Republicans are also ready to battle over the issue of pre-existing conditions, which Democrats used effectively in their 2018 election efforts by touting
Obamacare’s protections...."

They need to show something in legislation that they are in favor of a hard protection against pre existing condition denials as they do get hammered with that in their "efforts" to repeal Obamacare, as if that was all that Obamacare contained.

For someone who claims no specific political affiliation, your "balance" of political criticism is roughly 15 Republican hits for every 1 Democrat hit.........

Had to let people see what Obamacare really did to them. (we have to pass it to see what's in it)

Half of Democrats want it repealed as well.

I haven’t seen the one yet. I do agree with him here though. The republicans have sat on their thumbs since Trump won. An indication of their swampiness far sure. They better get it done this time.

Tom is basically left of the democrats, except I think he is pro-life and he may also be pro-2nd-Amendment. But I haven't seen him criticize democrats on those things. Where I've seen him criticize democrats, it's because they didn't go far enough left to suit him.

He's a pretty hard-core leftist. He calls himself and independent. Humor him. He's a hell of a lot more sensible than a lot of lefties on here.

I fail to see any way they can get the things they want in a healthcare package and actually guarantee that. Also having roughly half the country have their insurance thru their employers is all fine and dandy until you have something like this happen where millions of jobs just disappear overnight.

I agree with Tom that the Pubs haven't been very good on this issue. Both sides are bad at it.

Yet again, your assumptions are incorrect and you prove that you don't actually know how anything works in the real world.

Yes with the current marketplace. Do you think the GOP is gonna keep the marketplace and the subsidies?

That is a democrat legacy by the way. It was first put in as a way around the WWII wage controls.

Obamacare managed to combine the worst feature of our old system--health insurance tied to employment--with the worst feature of single-payer and single-provider systems--bureaucratic decision-making replacing the doctor-patient relationship.

Bisamarck fixes both. So why don't republicans (or anybody) push for it? Beats the hell out of me. Stupid party versus evil party.

The concept of continuous coverage and special election periods for those who lose coverage is common sense in the insurance world, and not going anywhere.

Next time you believe you've stumbled onto a problem, realize that you're not the first person to think of it and that it's already been solved by grown ups that think for a living. That's a good rule of thumb to live by.

I'm all in on this one. I once went to this quack that is siphoning the Medicare money tree by making you go through a shiate load of tests that don't have anything to do with what you went in there for. He employs a shiate load of PA's and it looks like an assembly line. I went in one time for a simple checkup of a little bump in my throat and wound up with a 600 dollar bill. A little in front of me was flabbergasted and she looked panicky like asking herself how am I gonna pay this bill. That li'l SOB deserves every bad thing that comes his way. I never went back but there's a shiate load of old people that go anyway, mostly medicare type people.

Of course it is, COBRA has existed for a long time, but is completely un-affordable for anyone that lost a job. Are you saying you support keeping the subsidies around?

I wasn't saying that, but yes, I support that or something similar if the Republicans can do it better. Those who make ~$20k a year and don't qualify for Medicaid need some sort of support, obviously.

I don't see Obamacare as a great evil like most Republicans do, and am for fixing what's wrong with it. That's also the pragmatist in me, knowing that a full scrap simply isn't going to happen.
