Order a ramp up of production when medical experts tell you a new virus will reach our shores in a matter of weeks and it has the ability to kill millions. That’s what any rational human being would expect.

Has that happened? In China where it has burned through a population did it kill millions? I think DJT is the ace of spades when it comes to bombastic jackasses, but perhaps you are over reacting here.

So many people pretend like we’re approaching a close to this when the truth is we’ve barely begun. The only hope for low deaths is a cure, an effective treatment, or a spontaneous mutation rendering it harmless. Those are hopes, not plans.

We don’t know how many it has killed or is killing in China because their authoritarian regime lies through its teeth all day every day. The toll it will take on America is yet to be seen. I completely agree with those who say this was going to be bad no matter what, but it is laughable to argue that better planning and quicker action would not have slowed the spread and mitigated loss to life and wealth. Trump did nothing for months. And now we will all pay for that. Anyone who denies that reality is a fool.

So, again, what's your solution? What's the plan the entire rest of the world, especially now Spain, is missing?

you moan and cry the same song and dance 10 times a day on a sports message board forum and offer, uhhhh

Nothing. You offer fear mongering, 20/20 hindsight with nothing of substance other than hoping your fellow Americans die a painful death for short term political points.

Sorry, the real Patriots are seeing right through your and Fransicko NaNs naked partisanship and it is being roundly rejected. As in the same 60-40 rejection that sent the Cank packing.

BUT MUH EXPONENTIAL CURVE!!! 03-hissyfit

Pretty sure that is NOT what the MSM is telling him to think.

Pretty sure the current trajectory models say we are no longer "prepared".

Great, more senseless fear mongering.

We are probably going to pass everyone before this is over. Of course, we are larger than all those nations other than China---and we cant really use the same methods China used (assuming you can believe the Chinese numbers---which I dont).

Pass everyone in what? and who decides when "this is over"?

We are already the #3 nation in the world in total infections. At this rate, we will have more cases than any other nation within a week or so. Most of the free nations will have trouble controlling it---mainly becasue we cant use the same methods that China did and we didnt have the SARS experience that allowed many eastern nations to keep the infection maintained in the containment phase. Once it gets into the general community spread phase---its just a function of population after that. Not a whole lot you can do about it other than moderate how long it takes to infect a large portion of the population.
We are literally testing people that have no symptoms that test positive and never have symptoms. Positive cases mean nothing. Serious cases and deaths are the only relevant numbers.

I would disagree. Positive cases do mean something, as finding out you are positive allows you to isolate and prevent further spread.

In the stats it matters because it shows how fast this is spreading, and allows us to monitor against our health care system capacity assuming we will have a certain % of serious cases. Allows you to identify clusters as well.

A strong (or even moderate) testing program would have been EXTREMELY useful at the start of this, but that's obviously water under the bridge. South Korea handled this wonderfully and allowed it to have a minimal impact on their population as their test and trace program worked wonders to help minimize the effect on their economy as well.
If less than 10% of the tests come back positive then that means more people are sick from something else besides CoVid19. Hospitals are always full or they would go out of business. That means most people in hospitals currently are not there because of CoVid19. People get sick and sick people die everyday. This will not change after this becomes normal which it will as it will never go away. If we stop the country every time people get sick and keep a "meter" showing the number ill and the number that die we might as well just shut it down and everyone fend for themselves. What will the leftists come up with next? A shooting meter with the number of people shot everyday along with the number that die every day for a year? One I bet we never see. An "abortion-a-meter". Won't see that one. Everyone remember the daily troop death count that was in every newspaper in the country while Bush was President? Amazing how that mysteriously stopped when Obama became President.

RE: Trump wasted time and that will kill Americans
In the past 5 months, we have had 700,000 people hospitlaized for the f'ing flu.

Some moron posing as a nurse in Orlando was saying about cornovirus "This is SERIOUS. We have a bed shortage in Orlando!"
The only problem with that statement? The had a grand total of 40 people who were positive for Coronoavirus at the time, so if they had a bed shortage, it WASNT due to coronavirus.

It would be funny if trump used the Defense Act, like the left are screaming for, and took over the planned parenthood offices to be used as hospital beds for coronavirus.

What we are not being told is the REASON for any bed shortages since the beginning of time including now is BECAUSE OF the flu. I want to see on all of the graphs, meters etc. the number of positive flu tests that are showing up in relation to CoVid-19. I'm sure that some of the 90%+ of the negative CoVid tests are testing positive for the flu. My guess it is a lot more.

I'm truly getting tired of politicians and the media showing "tested" positive numbers as some indication of the spread of this virus. An infinitesimally small number of humans in any country have been tested. We have no clue how many have acquired the virus. All that charts like this show is how rapid a country is at ramping up the testing process. That's all. So...this chart demonstrates that the United States is leading the world in ramping up quick and accurate testing. That's all it shows. Of course, politicians and the media, as usual, twist the meaning of charts like this for their own messaging purposes. Sadly, as demonstrated here, most buy into it.

Worse yet, testing everyone would net you full control of the virus. Even if every single person in the nation was tested---you couldnt do everyone at the exact same time and have everyone get an instant result at the same time. Thus, by the time you get your negative result---you may in fact have been infected by another person who hasnt yet received their positive result. You'd have to test everyone every day to actually control the virus.

We have wide spread testing. The problem is we have a virus where you are contagious several days before exhibiting symptoms. Thats simply a very difficult problem to solve as normal screening methods dont work. You basically have to assume everyone is carrying the virus.

We live in the world we have---the theoretical world where all 330 million citizens of the US can can be tested instantly at that same time doesnt exist here or anywhere else in the world. It is what it is.
Everyone has a virus at all times. Reminds me of my wife who had Pneumonia last Spring and had sinus surgery back in early January to basically exfoliate her sinuses to see if that would clear up her lung congestion she has been having for 3 years or so. After surgery the doc came out to discuss what he did. He took a culture in her nose just to check as he said he didn't expect to find anything. Post Op my wife couldn't smell or taste for about 10 days which is a symptom of this virus. TWO WEEKS AFTER HER SURGERY the doctor's office called and said her culture tested positive for MRSA. So she went on a strong anti-biotic for 2 weeks to remove that. For those of you that don't know what MRSA is, it is basically a bug you get from a medical facility. It kills way more nursing home patients per year than this virus will ever think of killing. When I was in the Nursing Home business, it was damn near 100% that if a patient had to go to the hospital, they would either get it there or have it when they came back to the home. So everyone is walking around with a virus. We just grow immunity to be able to live with it.

Yep. Some years back my Mother had ankle surgery after a numbnuts DHL driver crossed over in broad daylight and smacked her head-on. I went to the hospital afterwards to just sit there with her, she was stoned as a bat, so no idea who I was or what she was saying, pretty funny at times actually. ANYWAY

Yup, about 4-5 days later I'm in the same damn hospital, one floor down with MRSA, Staph and something else. A lovely 4 anti-biotic cocktail in my arm for my efforts, and it only got funner from there, when I turned out to be highly allergic to one of those 4. She was home about 2 weeks sooner than I was...

Hospitals be Naaaaasty place.

(03-25-2020 11:59 AM)natibeast21 Wrote:  CNN's Headline regarding Gallop Poll on Trump: "President Trump is as popular as he's ever been right now"

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/25/politics/...index.html

(CNN)Here's an indisputable fact: President Donald Trump is as popular today as he has been since his first day in office.

In a new Gallup poll, 49% approve of the job Trump is doing as president while 45% disapprove, matching the highest his approval rating has ever been in Gallup surveys. A Monmouth University poll released on Monday showed Trump at 46% approval, again the best he has done in that poll in more than three years.

What accounts for Trump's rise? Simple: His response to the coronavirus crisis.
In the Gallup poll, 60% of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing in handling the crisis while 38% disapprove of how he has done. Six in 10 independents approve of how Trump has done on the coronavirus as do more than 1 in 4 (27%) of Democrats. In the Monmouth poll, 50% say Trump has done a good job with coronavirus while 45% said he has done a bad job.
The heightened approval for how Trump has managed this crisis -- particularly among independents and even Democrats -- is what is pushing up his overall approval numbers, which have been largely stagnant for years.

On one level, this isn't terribly surprising. Polling consistently shows a rallying effect around the president when major crises face the country. In the wake of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, for example, President George W. Bush's approval rating soared into the high 80s and low 90s. There's a tendency for even partisans of the opposite party from the president to soften a bit in their perception of him as we are reminded of our common humanity and the need for our leaders to, well, lead us out of crisis.

On another, however, Trump's high approval ratings for how he has dealt with coronavirus and how he is handling the job more broadly might well shock people who have been keeping close track of his and his administration's performance on the pandemic.

After all, it's quite clear that the administration simply didn't take the threat of coronavirus seriously enough soon enough. And the testing capabilities for coronavirus in the US were decidedly slow. And Trump's public statements have been marked by inaccurate claims (the test is "perfect", the vaccine is coming fast, etc).

But what the Gallup and Monmouth numbers seem to suggest is that either a) people aren't following every single statement made by Trump on this matter or b) they don't hold him personally responsible for the hiccups along the way.

The average person seems to broadly believe that Trump is doing the best that he can in a very difficult circumstance. And that what he says on a daily basis matters less than the fact he is out there saying it, and assuring the country that this will all be over soon. (Nota bene: There's very little medical evidence to suggest Trump's optimism is rooted in established facts.)

It's important to keep this perspective in mind when analyzing the political impact this massive campaign of social distancing has as the medical world battles the virus. A large number of Americans are looking at Trump's behavior not from the 50-foot or even 500-foot level but the 50,000-foot level.
And at least so far, they like what they are seeing.

Waaaaaait just a minute. So, what they are saying is that it's TRUMP that really wants this to last all the way to November. Big Numbers, too. Yuuuuge numbers in fact. No wonder he didn't hand over the keys to that warehouse filled with all those millions of test kits for something NO ONE had any idea what it was.

That wily mad Orange Bastard.

Whoooole nother 4 perhaps 5-D level chess schit right here.

Damn, he's good. Just damn. 07-coffee3

Trump wasted time and that will kill Americans
Wait for the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the left when Trump tells everyone to go back to work. It could be in 6 months from now and the left will screech that Trump has blood on his hands and it’s too soon. They definitely don’t want to see that stock market go back up.

Pretty sure you put it on a tray, grabbed a utensil etc. Everything you touched at some point in time in the past day or so had been in a patients room at least once.

And people go to them just to eat at the cafeteria. Never understood that one. Usually it is old people that do it, too.

The only thing I ate with any regularity while there was an english muffin cause it had been alone in a toaster, and sealed stuff like jell-o or puddin, ice cream cups etc.

Only redeeming value of that fiasco was I dropped a cool 30#'s and have kept it off... 04-cheers
Pretty sure you put it on a tray, grabbed a utensil etc. Everything you touched at some point in time in the past day or so had been in a patients room at least once.

Well, I was pretty beat up actually. So they brought it to me but yea, same issue.

Just one small problem with your "theory". trump has next to no power to actually force anyone to go back to work. He can scream it all he wants, my employer is not going to allow it's workforce of folks from 20-70 to all work in close proximity until they're confident they're safe from the virus.

Sounds like your boss is going to use this as an excuse to get rid of some of the dead weight around there.

This Momus is pulling hard for more deaths by Covid-19. He and his satanic buddies are no doubt sending prayers to the devil asking for a huge increase in deaths. Any life is worth losing so he can attack Trump. Sick puppy.

03-hissyfit

C'mon Dunk - you don't expect an answer to this do you? You shoudl know better.

Tis' easier to criticize than to create..............

I deal with this chit all the time with my industry regulators...

They come in and tell you something is wrong and to fix it. They do not tell you what or how though. So you go ahead a fix it, then they come in again and say that's not good enough or not when they meant... try again.

I have a feeling Momus is a woman (or a regulator).... she believes that she doesn't have to explain anything, you should just be able to read her mind when she tells you you are wrong.
