...there is no indication yet what the House will do. Justin Amash has already trashed it in a tweet. Anyway...

A $2T stimulus package.

Details starting to come out. These are included, but maybe not everything.

* Direct checks to Americans
* Expanded unemployment assistance
* Emergency loans to small businesses
* Stabilize key national industries
* Strict oversight for large corporations

I see the government, took AOC's advice, to print more money....

in the end probably less deaths than most flu seasons. Did not have to be this way. Where's my check!

yep...it did not have to go down this longer term path to destruction...

sometimes, culling is a better long term solution at 'weigh-in'....

RE: Finally, we have a deal in the Senate, but...
From what I am reading, the House is not in DC currently (or at least the full House). If Pelosi can get a unanimous passage, they can get that done remotely without a vote. But if not, they do need to somehow get back to DC which could be tough since airlines have really cut back on their flights. Remote voting isn't possible (again that seems like such an archaic rule), but they can do some sort of proxy vote?

In any case, I suspect very few people are going to vote nay and it will pass in the House somehow today.

I'm not so sure. Amash already posted a tweet in strong opposition to it.

Yes, but he know's there is ZERO chance this does not pass. Therefore, he's safe putting out his opposition to it.

We probably need this to pass so we can move along, but I'm afraid we'll see that this was littered with the usual big government giveaways to influential lawmakers pet projects as these monstrous bills always do.

That's your "principled and wholesome" Justin Amash. No doubt Tom that he's only blasting it because he knows he'll get cover from plenty of other Reps who wouldn't be dumb enough to kill a bill meant to rescue the economy from the quarantines.

However, what if other idiots think the same way and the bill actually fails? This is why ******** like Amash need to shut up and do their job.

This morning what I read this one was geared more towards those who were laid off which in my opinion is better. I'd rather the folks laid off get a check than me. I've been guaranteed my salary for the foreseeable future.

It was a long long time before they allowed voting by button. It was done manually.

Schumer made it a point to mention that Trump and Pence's businesses couldn't get any payments. He apparently couldn't just say that all Congressmen, cabinet members, President and V-P don't get payments. For once, they exempt themselves from something good. Somehow I think the rules on what constitutes ownership will written to exempt Schumer and other leadership.

Yep. Just heard on the Kilmeade show that Congress is not planning on meeting today. Can't find a link yet. Look to the stock market to see how they react in coming minutes.

Yeah---the way I understand it---there will be no vote. They want to use the a unanimous consent mechanism. In other words, if one house member opposes it---then it wont pass. If that occurs, then Nancy will introduce the Democrat House Bill and negotiations to complete the will begin on that. The assumption is that they will then pass that and move to a joint committee to hammer out a compromise between the Senate and House bills. What I dont understand is how is the House bill going to get passed without meeting? If the Senate bill cant get unanimous consent---I guarantee the Democrat House Bill will not win unanimous consent. So, if they meet---will the Senate Bill at least get an opportunity to be voted on--or will it get shelved in favor of this nut job Pelosi Bill?

I think--and truly hope--that Pelosi may have realized that she overplayed her hand. If democrats get portrayed as having held up aid to push a socialist/communist side agenda, that could be a major election issue that could hurt them badly. I'm guessing Schumer has told her, "We got a deal. STFU."

Of course, it that situation arises, it brings up two questions. One, would the MSM cover it objectively? And two, would the stupid republicans even be able to figure out how to use it?
