Listening to Trump this afternoon, there is no way in hell there is going to be a national quarantine. He is pushing now 100% to get everything back open.

We'll see if that's a good idea or not. I'm very much suspecting not at the current rate cases are increasing (now over 50K).

I can see how many have died, right now currently the mortality rate in the US is 1.2%. As long as we have enough ICU's/Ventilators for those who need them then go back to work (I've never actually left work sitting at my desk right now). Do we have enough to ensure that everyone who needs one will have one? If yes then that mortality rate will drop and sure going back to work is correct. If we don't then you are gonna have an Italy/Spain situation where doctors are having to decide who lives and dies and that can't be allowed to happen period.

As far as something like declaring martial law... Article 1, Section 9 of the US Constitution refers to invasion and grants the president such powers, but it was broadened in interpretation almost immediately during the War of 1812 and onwards.

Lots of subsequent legislation has been passed granting such powers...most recently in my memory the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007 which explicitly grants the president martial law declaration and management powers. Quarantine would fit right in under that.

Quick summary and quick answer, pretty much yes.

Guessing the Supreme Court wouldn’t touch this with a 10 foot pole, anyways.

Speaking of the Supremes.... if Ginsburg comes out of all this unscathed you know things aren't an on the up-and-up.

Who are you kidding? The dims have probably had her stuck in a plastic bubble like a hamster since the beginning of this thing.

I mean what you personally experience is irrelevant. You can 100% die from alcohol withdrawal and it has nothing to do with toughing it out.

So you think there's zero concern about not having enough ICU beds and ventilators? Just a fabricated issue?

I know who I'm having a discussion with, someone I may not agree with politically but so what? Each side thinking people on the other side are either evil or stupid or both is a big part of the reason things have devolved to the point they have. Having a different world view doesn't mean there isn't a common ground that can be found. Maybe this is just me but I'd rather look for places I agree with someone than just bicker forever over the things I know we never will. The actual people running the country, corporate overlords and big money special interests, want us fighting about these relatively petty things instead of identifying them and their grifting and crony capitalism as the real enemy of the american people.

We'll see. I want you to be right on this. I don't think there's enough evidence on this yet to know for sure, but numbers from the CDC don't make me feel certain on this that young people don't require hospitalization for this in large numbers.

https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6912e2.htm

As of March 16, a total of 4,226 COVID-19 cases had been reported in the United States, with reports increasing to 500 or more cases per day beginning March 14 (Figure 1). Among 2,449 patients with known age, 6% were aged ≥85, 25% were aged 65–84 years, 18% each were aged 55–64 years and 45–54 years, and 29% were aged 20–44 years (Figure 2). Only 5% of cases occurred in persons aged 0–19 years.

Among 508 (12%) patients known to have been hospitalized, 9% were aged ≥85 years, 36% were aged 65–84 years, 17% were aged 55–64 years, 18% were 45–54 years, and 20% were aged 20–44 years. Less than 1% of hospitalizations were among persons aged ≤19 years (Figure 2). The percentage of persons hospitalized increased with age, from 2%–3% among persons aged ≤19 years, to ≥31% among adults aged ≥85 years. (Table).

Among 121 patients known to have been admitted to an ICU, 7% of cases were reported among adults ≥85 years, 46% among adults aged 65–84 years, 36% among adults aged 45–64 years, and 12% among adults aged 20–44 years (Figure 2). No ICU admissions were reported among persons aged ≤19 years. Percentages of ICU admissions were lowest among adults aged 20–44 years (2%–4%) and highest among adults aged 75–84 years (11%–31%) (Table).

I hope I'm right too....those numbers define my position relative to 'handling'....

just think if everyone was tested vs. age groups and how the numbers play out....it would shock the 'scarred and scared'....

I'm not that guy....

there's a better way to do this moving forward....

I'd much rather subsidize isolating the elderly in distribution of necessities via business loans as req'd vs. shutting down the masses....

as always, JMTC....

(You’re likely to young to remember that crap show)

But, I’m not entirely sure you’re as far left as you think you are. Or, perhaps those of us who have largely forsaken the establishment R’s, the George Will, Bill Kristol, Dick Wilson types realize that the “others” perhaps were close to right all along.

The globalists, largely starting with H.W. (Anyone else recall Reagan’s rather half-assed, reluctant endorsement ala zerO and Sloe right now) sold us down the river for what I genuinely believe they thought would bring us to this grand New World Order.

To some extent it has. More people living without widespread famine and most now with running water. Electricity, indoor plumbing etc. when was the last We are the World mass effort needed?

But then it spiraled out of control. We ceded our economy, our control over our pharma supplies, our manufacturing base , our steel industry, a schit-ton of our car making. One supply chain after another, washing machines, TVs, dishwashers, car tires, even the gddamn Apple phones.

And thus, we sold out our middle class. Now you can either be a CEO, work for a CEO that tells you where to order other schit from, or you can be a small business entrepreneur or work as a Subway/Pizza Hut manager and do the best you can.

This entire thing gon suck. Haaard for a lot of people. But, in my never ending optimism about Muricans and the American spirit we will come out of this even stronger and more than a little pissed off.

I see the next American industrial revolution on the horizon. Time we stayed in this new found “war footing”.

Bring it to the next generation...

As long as we have enough ICU's/Ventilators for those who need them then go back to work (I've never actually left work sitting at my desk right now). Do we have enough to ensure that everyone who needs one will have one? If yes then that mortality rate will drop and sure going back to work is correct. If we don't then you are gonna have an Italy/Spain situation where doctors are having to decide who lives and dies and that can't be allowed to happen period.
the more they test, the more the rate lowers...

prove me wrong... it's a simple fk'n equation

I came with a 4x factor earlier vs tested vs carriers vs impact.. and I'mlladamant how this is msm frenzy by design...

like the Dutch and DJT, I'm sick of this stupid bs....

So you think there's zero concern about not having enough ICU beds and ventilators? Just a fabricated issue?

uhhhhhhhhhhhh....if you isolate the elderly from the young bucks, you wouldn't need 5% of what is required at this point....

should've done that out of the fk'n gate....the Dutch figured it out....so has DJT....

As Willie Sutton supposedly quipped- Why do you rob banks? Willie responded “that’s where the money is”.

Same kinda thing here. 7% are 85 or older. Well, how many 85 and older are even with us anymore?

65-85? A schitton. 44-65? A schitton more. Of course those two age groups are gonna show up big in damn near any med group. Likely the same numbers in hip or knee replacements too.

Just take a pause and think about who you're trying to have an intelligent discussion with. 03-lol

There are certainly things I am very far "left" on just based on the current political definition, but I think most of these things are just meant to divide us and make us fight among ourselves instead of against the real enemies of this country. Despite their proposed solutions being very far apart from each other Trump and Bernie supporters have a common ground, that they both believe the establishment leaders of the major parties have sold out the average working person in this country. It's why I find myself in more agreement with MAGA people on a lot of things than the MUH RESISTANCE, because the resistance people just think if we could time travel back to 2015 everything was amazing, while MAGA and Bernie people know that is bull crap. As you mentioned this didn't start with the Obama administration either it's been a 30+ year movement of selling out the American working class for increased corporate profits and political grifting.

This is the reason Italy got it so bad. 6% of Italy's population is/was over 80. That is a shitton as you say. Italy also has a shitton of nursing homes and they are typically the worst place a healthy person wants to ever go. Alot of times the bottom of the bottom work in those places (I worked in one for about 8 months and literally changed my profession when I left). They don't care about anything. I can tell you some stories, especially about the night shift, about what would happens in empty beds of double occupancy rooms.
