I think by the end of June this virus will be limited to small pockets that flair up from time to time.

With the heat and humidity of summer along with medical treatments the football season will go on as scheduled.

I find it difficult to feel sympathy towards any SEC school complaining about missing out on TV revenue. Maybe it’s just me.

There is a highly touted RB, Asa Martin, who will compliment or exceed Gainwell.
We have an experienced, talented team returning.

OF COURSE the season will be CANCELLED!!!!!!

Tiger sports luck.

Exceed Gainwell? C'mon man.

Asa is the highest rated recruit to ever play at Memphis. He was the #3 rated RB in the nation. He was rated 64 overall recruit in the nation, #2 recruit in AL.
Gainwell was rated 21 recruit in MS.

Gainwell was vastly underrated; however, if Asa is anywhere close to ratings... he would easily push Kenny.

RE: Football ticket renewal - will there be a 2020 season?
I am hopeful that we start to see a decrease in the number of additional cases over the next 30 days with more positive news by May 1.

My new favorite website. If anyone has a better one you use, please share.
https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard...7b48e9ecf6

I would have never guessed that only 4 days ago at 2:30 pm that the US would have less than 7,800 confirmed cases. As of 7 pm on 3/22, we are at 33,000.

With the onset of better weather, I can do without baseball & basketball as well as most everything else on TV. The absence of college football will be another story. With what we having coming back and the memories from last year, that will be unbearable.

I've been using this one. Nicely formatted with a little more detailed with data on new cases and severity.

I think its possible that the season starts on time but with no crowds. I think its highly unlikely that there will be events with tens of thousands of people. Even if we slow the outbreak, we will still need to slowly open up to prevent a 2nd big outbreak before a vaccine is available early next year.

If the decision was to play games with no crowds, would there be TV coverage? When I think of the crew associated with an ESPN broadcast, the travel involved, etc. I wonder if this could be done safely if "social distancing" remains the order of the day.

Then you think about the transmission of the virus from players on one team to players on the other team, and I don't see it happening. Someone told me that a person who has the corona virus and recovers may be able to shed virus particles and infect others for weeks after their symptoms abate. With experts saying that a vaccine is a year away, that doesn't help for the upcoming football season.

Yeah this is depressing

It is possible we will lose a year and a half of pop culture, until vaccines are developed and safe

In sports pop culture it matters less, but still sucks, especially as we realize older players have limited windows

Roger Federer
Drew Brees
Rafael Nadal
Tom Brady
LeBron James
Kevin Durant
Alex Ovechkin
Serena Williams

And so many more

For some of them, losing a year means losing one of only a few years left for high level performance

Also possible that over the next month the rates will slow exceedingly, although in the US rate of infection is so tied in to whether people are tested that any numbers are less reliable

Groceries are necessities

Internet providers and Television etc. will also be necessary.

I don't disagree. I only think its possible that the season starts.

I work in an industry hard hit by this. I've reforcasted our business 4 times in the last week and about to do a 5th tonight. Until we peak and start to get healthy its impossible to know what will happen in September.

Look on the bright side. A year off to just rest and not compete may do the older players some good and extend their careers a couple of years.

This has turned into probably the most depressing thread ever on MTO. The thought of no football season really makes me ill.

I'm not worried about August. We'll play. The summer will do its job.

I am worried about next December. The real question is will it come back next winter?

There will be football. Can’t keep the world shut down that long. It would cripple the economy. And a vaccine is coming.
