If the B1G and SEC make moves I suggested, how does ACC respond
If the B1G added: UVA, VT AND WVU
The SEC added: The Research Triangle

How would the ACC rebuild? My guess is the Eastern half of the American

The ACC will raid the BIG and get Ohio State, Michigan, and Alabama, UGA from the SEC.

If the ACC still has Florida State and Clemson, and the Big 12 still has Texas and Oklahoma, then they may not need to do much expanding. They could stay as 9- or 10-member conferences. The AAC teams are certainly waiting in the wings if needed, especially Cincinnati.

The Big Ten would never add WVU due to horrendous academics. These are just "fun" threads that can't be taken seriously unfortunately.

That School Up North better get their act together soon, or else the ACC will take Penn State, instead.

Assuming the Big Ten and SEC ever do decide to raid the ACC, I'd guess the targets would be Big Ten: UVA, UNC, Duke, ND and SEC: Clem, FSU, VaT, NCSt or some subset of those. I'd imagine the SEC would want Carolina and Duke too but if they had a choice and the money was close, they'd choose the Big Ten. Most likely it will also come down to Texas/Oklahoma. If one of the conferences get them, they will have less incentive to want to expand further as they will already have 16 (or more) members.

The new members the ACC grabs will depend on who is left in the conference. Right now it seems UNC/Duke call the shots although I'd imagine they deferred to the football schools when it came to Louisville as they wouldn't have wanted the academic dead weight and it's hard to pass on UConn who had recently won a national championship in men's basketball and tons of championships in women's basketball. If UNC/Duke are gone and the more of the top academic schools leave, the academic criteria could be gone and West Virginia's chances of getting in are much higher. Likewise if the Clemson's and Florida State's leave, the chances of a UConn or Temple who's football programs aren't good increase. If 1 or 2 get picked off, maybe they just stay at 12 members. If they go down to 8 or 9 members, they'll take anyone. If Florida State leaves, they have to add UCF.

Why is there a new thread stemming from an outrageous existing thread by OP?

The ACC would go, "and there's a guy with the head of a goat walking down the street with a girl with the head of a jaguar ... wait a minute, WVU to the Big Ten? I must be dreaming!", ...

... and so their reaction would be to wake up, and tell someone, "man, I had the wierdest dream".

Well the answer is obvious. The ACC would add 8 of the 9 remaining members of the Big 12, all but Texas Tech. Then the Big 10, SEC and ACC would all be 17 teams, a nice odd prime number. The Pac 12 would then add Texas Tech to get to 13, the next lowest prime number.

I don’t want to shame the OP but the scenario presented is improbable because the Big Ten requires AAU status and/or football blue blood status for their membership. There will come a time when the ACC is going to have to replace lost members but I think it will be 2037 and the members being replaced will be ND, FSU, Clemson, and possibly a few others.

Bullet: I can't tell how serious you are, but your picks make a lot of sense. CenterSquad: I agree Cincinnati makes sense for the B1G in this scenario.

I'm making fun of the fact that you added 3 teams to two 14 team conferences. But yes, it would be logical if the ACC got stripped but still had FSU/Clemson.

Ahh! You're absolutely right bullet! 17 teams IS unwieldy.

How about this scenario

Big Ten takes UNC and Va.
SEC takes NCSU and VT
Big 12 takes FSU, Clem, GT and Lou

That leaves in the ACC...
Mia, Duke, Wake, Pitt, Cuse, BC, ND non-football

ACC then invites Cincy, UCF, USF, Hou, SMU, Memphis

That leaves the AAC with...
Tulsa, Tulane, ECU, Temple, Navy football only, WSU non-football

Navy announces it's going back to being independent in football.

Temple announces it is going independent in football and back to A10 for other sports.

WSU announces it is going back to the MVC.

AAC invites UAB, USM, MTSU, WKU, FIU, FAU, ODU

This seems the most likely posted. Also think Temple and Tulane would be considered for that ACC rebuild, they fit the private, city, academic profile.

Georgia State and Appalachian State would get AAC invites.

Hate your Big XII invites, but the rest is reasonable/plausible.

Temple's a public school. But they would bring Philadelphia to the ACC, something overlooked by many. They suffer by their name. Too bad the Big East/Big Ten didn't hold Rutgers' name against them.
