Baylor...Texas...other Big XII programs all play systems with 3-4 guards and one athletic big at a time. Of course, they have multiple bigs to sub out, and all the guards have good handles, can pass and shoot.

But the Baylor coach still thinks bigs are important enough to have 6 players 6'8" or taller on their roster. We currently have 1.
As far as rebounding goes, I loved watching Houston collect so many offensive rebounds (which they clearly needed with their subpar shooting). Here's an article on their drill: http://thedailycougar.com/2021/01/25/hou...%20roster.
As far as the rebounding drill this is nothing new as we used rebounding bubbles on a regular basis during my HS years in NJ in the early 90's. It is a fantastic drill though as the cover has all sorts of bubbles that make the rebounds really unpredictable and teaches you to anticipate.
My coach also had a different use after one game where we shot like 50% from the FT line in a game we lost by 2 points. Next day we had to shoot FT's and run for everyone we missed, but the problem was every basket had a bubble on it. So we basically ran for an hour.

Brand new team for the CAA next year.
Should be expected with a new coach, especially at our level. Players play for coaches, not programs. Blue bloods are really the only exception to that

JMU appears to be in the mix for North Dakota transfer point guard Tyree Ihenacho, who will be committing in the next couple weeks. He was the Summit League freshman of the year this past season. Averaged 10.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per 40 minutes.

Just what we need, another point guard. Some very nice numbers, though.

Gotta love Shooter. Reminds of several years back when I was coaching Little League Baseball and a friend of mine shows up to watch his Son play after being on the Golf Course all day. He had hit the beverage cart pretty heavy and kept yelling "swing harder, Nolan". I had to ask him to leave after the 2rd inning.

JMU is being linked with Northwestern St transfer Jamaure Gregg (6'7, 232). He averaged 15.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per 40 minutes and shot 45.1% from the field as a sophomore this season.

He has a ton of eyes on him including UNC trying to convince him to stay. Would be a dream get.
Seems after an extremely tough decision Auburn beat JMU on the coin toss...

2 years of eligibility but if the past is any indicator he will probably play one year at Towson and then leave as a grad transfer for another school. Skerry’s Towson program is a turnstile of talented players.

Thanks NJ.
The transfer portal is great. If you’re alive, warm and put up some stats low production schools are calling.
If you’re on Twitter follow this kid @jakelieberman2
“Dan Akin tells has spoken with James Madison and St. John's so far. Also, Charlotte, UIC, Chicago State, RMU, Longwood, Cal State Fullerton, Utah Valley, CBU, Howard, Marshall, Bowling Green, NKU, EWU, Valpo, Sam Houston State are involved.
7.9 PPG and 6.4 RPG from UMBC.”

(04-12-2021 06:47 PM)NJDuke97 Wrote: The two transfers I see JMU still mentioned on are Zack Bryant a PG transfer from Georgia Southern who was recruited by Coach By and a Juco who is 6’7”. The Juco is announcing his commitment on 4/24 and Bryant’s decision is supposedly imminent. What I’m not sure of is with the two recent commits of these guys are still possibilities to land at JMU. Honestly I think there is as much chance that JMU brings in more guards and wings than a 6’8” big. I just think there are that many guys with that size that fit the style of play at the mid major level so as silly as fans may think this strategy is it would surprise me to see more guards who can handle shoot and defend.
I’d argue that our size really didn’t inhibit us last year as much as our speed and versatility hampered the opposition. That was Byington in a short Covid season without a full roster of guys that fit his style. For as much as people worry about Amadi inside against more traditional bigs the opposition can not handle Amadi and the guy undersized and all still managed to come away with key rebounds at the end of games and key blocked shots. Amadi after a full off season and Byington a year in with more quick rangy guys is a better formula than adding a stiff or project who has size.
Mettlen retweeted that Bryant is going to explore playing professionally.
