He looks like a really good one. Great numbers for a freshman.

And he's from Prior Lake, Minnesota. My question is "Prior to what?"

He’s from Savage
HS is Prior Lake

Prior to what?

3.

350 schools. Over 1000 in the portal this year.

It is what it is. Byington is showing JMU fans he knows this part of the game.

I won't claim to know Byington's system but I expect constant subs in and out and give the hot hands (or guys who earned it in practice) the most minutes. But you're right it is bound to leave to guys who are unhappy with minutes, production, etc.

With that said I think you can't say no to a kid like this. He has potential to be CAA POY based on his freshman year and if his style matches ours then the sky is the limit.

I agree. He is clearly talented and very likely an automatic starter next season. But, this begs the question.... "what becomes of the other 742 guards we have on the roster?"

While this is another addition of a guard this is a huge get for JMU. Really surprises that Ihenacho did not get big interest from P5 teams. Just tells you that there is a huge amount of talent in the portal overall. Believe this guy will be all CAA this coming year and a POY candidate by the next.

Watch his tape. A very polished guard who will be a force in the CAA.

He is the kind of player you take regardless of roster needs.

So we have one left I believe?

The only downside I see from the moves so far is , as mentioned, "how do you play all these guys and keep everyone happy?" Good problem for us to have. From the highlight film I'd love to see Anosike or Akin be that final piece. Either way, looks like we will make another huge leap in our program next year.

Can't wait to see them play...

RE: Hoops transfers forecast
Current Depth Chart and I know the system is somewhat position-less with versatility etc so it’s a bit of a square peg round hole trying to fit our players into conventional position groupings but here goes. Also keep in mind guards coming in as PG to me it’s a little like how the best player on a baseball team in high school typically pitches and plays shortstop or a lot of football recruits start out as quarterbacks. Until you see these kids play we can theorize based on size but they could end up as a small wing on the depth chart or move over to more of a SG when kids graduate next season.

I count 7 backcourt and 6 front court spots.
Pg
Tyree- Sophomore
Strickland- Sophomore
McConnell- Freshman
Stinson- Freshman

Sg
Morse - Senior
Falden - Senior
Hodge - Senior

SF
Molson- Junior
Edwards- Sophomore
Savage - Freshman

PF
Wooden- Junior

C
Amadi - Sophomore

Prior to the next lake.

You ever been to Minnesota? There’s one around every corner...

As in, “Where’d you leave the tackle box and my pickled herring sandwich?”

“Shoot, that prior lake I guess”.

Platoons. Sub 5 at a time regularly and wear the other team out running.

RE: Hoops transfers forecast
JMU has upgraded its talent level significantly thanks to the 4 transfers.

One way to look at the change is this:

Christmas/Taylor - Molson/Ihenacho
Harvey - Falden
Mensah - ?

In terms of next year's roster, I look at it like this:

Post players - Amadi, Wooden, new post player TBD
Wings - Ihenacho, Edwards, Molson, Savage
Shooting guards - Falden, McConnell, Hodge
Point guards - Stinson, Morse, Strickland

RE: Hoops transfers forecast
Btw positions and size notwithstanding if there was concern about replacing Matt Lewis in terms of scoring shooting an ability to take over a game I think Tyree and Falden certainly have addressed that. I think Molson will be more of a glue guy - think a more capable Harvey and the open spot will be a better version of Jacobs. The team should take another major step next season.

Impressive. Plenty athletic for a big, can even handle the ball.

With a good compliment of guards that would be a LOT of fun to watch. He and Amadi, look out.
