I'm sure the comments being made in response are all positive.
Can't wait until Kennedy gets this turned around.
What am I talking about? He's already done this. Blazertalkers are full of love for the program again.
Mission accomplished!

RE: Hoops recruiting
I’ve wondered if the Jermaine Marshal offer was from the previous staff and it got lost in his Emails with all of the other offers. Then decided to read them all in one day. Maybe it’s not Andy’s first offer.
Lots of other offers going out from other schools for recruits and or transfers.

RE: Hoops recruiting
I saw an article on Kam Woods and it said he only had mid-major offers.
Frankly the portal transfer route may be the route to take for a player or two.
We lacked numbers in senior leadership the last year or two (no fault of Butler or Ralat) and really had better performers out of the sophomores.

RE: Hoops recruiting
High majors and better mid majors seem to see something in Woods they don't like. He's looked great the times I've see him but have to add that was against HS competition. College coaches get to see them in AAU ball against more equal talent.
I just threw his name out because I knew he wasn't already committed. He may not even be on AK's radar. I like Benjamin and think he can be a quality PG for us. He's also a PG with a scorer's mentality so we might need an on the ball defensive stopper too. Don't think Woods fits that mold.

Andy has some interesting stuff to say on 3 man front today. He hasn’t really had a chance to see our guys in person since he took over and he has been meeting with them via FaceTime. He also expects extraordinary measures to be taken regarding the loosening of transfers this offseason, so I’m guessing he has a plan in place. I was not a huge fan of the hire before it happened, but he appears to be doing and saying all the right things now. After listening to him a couple times I would be absolutely shocked if he didn’t already have a plan for this offseason.

Also indicated renewed effort to get in-state kids(mentioned no Alabama kids on current roster - Sippial is a walkon).

Who was our last scholarship player from the Birmingham metro? Dirk Williams from Homewood, I think.

The last incoming freshman from the area was Javien Williams (who had a solid career at La Monroe). Last in-state player on the roster was Lewis Sullivan.

Was for it til i remembered AK coaching record, and hearing he recruits by swag not skill.
Lots of positives though, oversaw OM renovations, former Blazer, wants to be here, decent recruiter, should get donations and former guys back. Has great connections.

Football has had success with a bunch of guys with swagger.

I think he indicated he preferred guys with swag because its easier to tone them down than it is to boost/motivate some players every game, not in lieu of skills.

I suppose that you need skills before having swagger.

I like confidence, certain guys swagger is punkish.
I dont care if he does recruit swagger as we haven't had an identity since Davis.
Football had grown men too. Now we've lost that aspect and lost some physicality.

I wondered since he didnt commit on spot. Eshan probably was ending 2020 with maybe Silver and Marshall and maybe saving his can.
Not really if concerned about this year AK gets a mulligan with covid and just having to replace RE

Basketball games are supposed to be times when you can showcase your school to football prospects and basketball prospects.
Hard to want to showcase your school to prospects when nobody is at the game.

RE: Hoops recruiting
Considering everybody else is recruiting now in spite of what the NCAA announced, this really isn’t much different than when Clark took over prior to Snowpocalypse.
Telephone calls and written correspondence are allowed during what the NCAA is calling a “dead period.”
Also, for as long as I’ve been keeping up with this stuff, we’ve always given a first year pass. Davis, Haase, Clark, Ehsan all got one. Davis and Ehsan both were set with great rosters in year 1. Probably a poor opinion on Davis’ first roster.

RE: Hoops recruiting
One thing going for AK is the experience on the roster and the 2 2020 guys. He only has a couple of spots available. If he can get quality guys there (low post scorer and a shooter) next season could (& should?) be a top pod team. BTW, are pods and Frisco still valid for 2020?
