Signed in early period
Good. He seems like a really solid recruit. I had been so pessimistic about the basketball program I had not been following recruiting
Both C/PF Rongie Gordon and CG Koby Jeffries are signed looking for two more guys. Replacing Scootie and Jude.
I can replace Jude. I can show up out of shape and never get into games too.
Welp Jude was a huge piece, played in 7 games averaged 5 mins, 2 points and one board. Shot 44 % (3rd out the five bigs) 68 % from Ft line (3rd out the five bigs).
You cant replace Jude, probably a D-2ish guy. Lol

Lol. I'd be the oldest, slowest, walk on in history.
But i have to say im excited about UAB basketball.
We haven't won a game under Kennedy but he already has us more relevant than we've been in years.

Me too my blazer brother, wonder what AK sees. Were only good as our top seven and seven is all we have honestly
1 Lovan
2 Benjamin
3 TSG (actually averaged 10 points)
4 Mak (averaged a whole point less than his Soph season)
5 Kassim ( 20 mins a game)
6 Tamell. (15 mins a game)
7 Brinson. (20 mins a game)
8 Luis Hurtado ( back to back 1 point averages with an asst)
9 Fredricks ( Think AK recruited him out of JuCo, sat out last year)

[11] KJ

RE: Hoops recruiting
Our Best Five (could be a small-ball lineup):
Point: Benjamin
Wing: TSG
Wing: Lovan
Wing: Fredericks
Post: RG
Starting Five & Rotation:
Point: Benjamin / Brinson
Wing: Lovan / TSG / Koby
Wing: Fredericks / TSG / Koby
Post: RG / Kassim
Post: Mak / Tamell
Kassim and Brinson were solid last season, but I'm not sure they take a big step forward. It wouldn't surprise me if Tamell has a really good season, or he doesn't play at all. I'd believe either outcome.
We could use an impact point guard and a rim-protector.

RE: Hoops recruiting
Based off of Kennedy's call earlier today, I think next year's offense is going to heavily feature Benjamin. Unless Mak is able to take a huge step forward. But Benjamin is the only one on the team with the BD Energy that Kennedy implied he wanted, and some shooting ability. Lovan & TSG have a lot of potential, but also seem like they have some confidence issues.

RE: Hoops recruiting
I hope Tavin Lovan's offense develop some more he brings excitment. Gets in the upper 80s from the FT line. Maybe shoots the three some around 34%. But most definitely work on his mid range game, 15ft jumpers, a floater, catch and shoot with confidence and have a year.

Something Mak should have been working on since he got to UAB...

one example of the previous coaching staffs not developing players

What killed me a bit this year was that Tavin has a good 3 ball but he has no confidence to shoot it during the game. Maybe some of HCAK confidence will rub off on him this year

I feel like in both Haase and Ehsan offenses, the 3 point shooters were always reluctant to let it fly and we always ran the shot clock down... Hoping we take on AK’s past mentality of aggressive offense/shooting

Allegedly, Kam Woods has the swagger that AK wants. We definitely need a point that can beat the press consistently.

I agree. If Kennedy doesn't sign Kam Woods it will be his first failure as a coach at UAB.

Don't worry. According to another post Kennedy will make Benjamin the best point guard ever.
We are taken care of.

He’s the lone Ehsan supporter on here, so he’ll say anything stupid to deride AK
