This river in New Zealand can now sue you

I'm actually tactily ok with this only as it pertains to indigenous peoples' rights to maintain their ancestral way of life.

One thing with this is that the river can also be sued.

I wonder what happens if it overflows its banks. Is it liable for damages?

I think the whole "indigenous" is garbage. Everybody migrated at some point in time out of Africa.

The "sovereign" entities in the US is a recipe for abuse in the long term. Be nice to "buy out" those rights as much as possible. Make the reservations a county or in the case of New Mexico and California with the tiny reservations, some sort of city. They have sovereignity, but within the state.
