Well sure, at 4000 ft. Come down to Toledo and see what you can do. I'm surprised you can even get a world record in this. If I'd known why I'd....

May be insane but every measured vert I’ve ever seen is straight up with no steps. Makes a huge difference. I’d like to see what Stefan Holm could have done.

Thought the same thing. Wonder what he can do without the run-up. Either way, that jump is still very impressive. He's 6'2" from what I could find, so 74 inches tall and getting 52" off the ground. I always look at that percentage to see how explosive the jump is. Kind of like Spud Webb when he was measured at 42" verticle and was 67 inches tall. That means Harris is getting 70% of his height and Webb was at just under 63%. To be comparable, Webb would have had to be at 47" vertical (or a running vertical leap in this case). Maybe he could have got there with the run-up, don't know.

I can remember David Thompson as having the freakish vertical jump when he played at NC State. He was 6'4" and had a 44" vertical. That is about 58%

High jumping is much more than mere vertical but it’s an important element. Holm jumped 7’10.5” at a height of 5’11”. Supposedly his vertical was 24” which barely qualifies as pedestrian so I’m very skeptical. I’ve seen video of him hurdling with good form over 6’ hurdles. No one jumps nearly eight feet with a 24” very.

That is a running vertical jump. Usually most standard vertical jump measurements are done using the standing vertical jump method. It's like comparing the average height of horses to the average height of giraffes. Running vertical jumps can be significantly higher. Personally, my running vertical leap was >24" greater than my standing vertical leap.
