Still needed a lot of blue to make it somewhat close. Would suggest cutting ticket prices in half for those future games

Certainly close enough. And definitely better than anything Ehsan was going to bring in

The Memphis game had 5k on championship Saturday. That’s 2k more than any other home game. Both points are valid.

Better check those ECU attendance numbers. I would have chosen another opponent to make my point. Just sayin’

Ehsans finishing 7th in cusa wouldn’t have gotten us close to ecu numbers anytime

Nor would a new coach finishing first in CUSA. It’s more than a coach but I’m glad we made a good hire to get us in the right direction. That was the point. Not that a team that is still coached by Eshan would not draw any more than A 3/4 full ECU game on a give away promotions night on TV. If it’s just the coach then we should see a full house opening night. Or at least half full. I hope it’s a sellout but I won’t hold my breath. I’ve been around too long. Rinse and repeat.

UAB fans need to make attending games a priority not a inconvenience. Make excuses to go to games instead of excuses not to go. That’s just the start. We can get into practice facility, over saturation, fan base not cultivated, conference affiliation, smallest recruiting budget in CUSA, donor numbers dropping the last 10 years, etc.

And I think what you need to understand is that basketball is not a priority at UAB anymore in Birmingham. Use to be but it's not anymore. Maybe Andy can change that, we'll see. People don't need to make excuses to go to a game. If they want to go they'll go and if they don't they won't.

UAB basketball fans do attend the games, it's just not that many of them anymore. We need the general fan to come back to our games and that happens when you put a winning product on the court. And that responsibility falls on the leaders at UAB. Cause it you ain't winning, nobody wants to watch you play. And that's not an excuse but a reality.

I know it’s not a priority. That’s why I made that statement.

Yep we need the general fan. We also need to cultivate new UAB fans. Preaching to the choir. It’s also not just winning. It’s playing an exciting brand of ball. Haase proved that if you win they won’t show in masses. How many bitched about style of play ??

We may have the best duo of coaches in the state. If they are out, promoting UAB, think they’d have a bigger impact doing it together.

If you aren’t pushing the ball in transition after every defensive rebound, I’m going to b*tch. That’s a sign of not playing hard, to me.

You said UAB Fans need to make it priority. The true UAB Basketball fan is making it a priority. However, the general UAB fan (which is a younger fan) isn't doing this and they won't do it unless the program gets back to winning. Because the general fan/student has way to many other things to get into besides watching bad basketball.

And it is about winning. Haase failed to capitalize on the success of UAB's only appearance in the NCAA's under his tenure. Davis was the same and along with some other issues.

Point is you can play an exciting brand of ball and still lose. People like winning and winning consistently. Not one good year and two bad years.

Not all UAB fans make UAB basketball a priority. Football yes.

There will probably be a bump in attendance next year. You wont see a huge increase UNTIL we start winning consistently, winning meaningful games, and against quality opponents. Thats the way it is at every program. I admit i wasn't a huge Kennedy fan as a player or assistant but hiring someone with head coaching experience was crucial in my opinion. He will be 1000x better than the last one. I will drive two hours to be at more games next year if i survive this virus. ?. I commend our AD for understanding that the number one reason we arent winning the way we want or having the crowds we want was due to the coach. Unlike a couple people on here that insist its the fans fault. One of those fans is an idiot and the other is both an idiot and hypocrite.

Given the circumstances can't we just enjoy the moment today instead of forming our usual circular firing squad?

Those folks that can't see the NUMBER ONE reason we have sucked the past 4 years is bc of the coach are either blind or willfully ignorant or directly related to said coach. He was not the only issue by far, but he was the number one reason.

I had made the decision to not renew for next season. After many, many years of season tickets. I am ready to renew and ask others to buy in to the team if AK is our coach.
We should be good enough to dominate CUSA and be on the radar for any conferences looking for a basketball and football program ready to step up.
Maybe we could tie both sports up by giving priority to basketball season tix holders to get football tix ahead of public demand for new stadium and football tix holders priority for basketball ahead of Public ahead of AK interest.
$10deposits for tix for each sport and offer season ticket holders for commitments of multiple seasons that the deposit flips to for priority status. Reward attendance by season ticket holders with discount for team wear purchases with 50%+, 75%, 90%, and 100% attendance.
Shake it up!

You can have respectful banter and be happy about the AK hire at the same time.
