Are Your Sign Language Interpreters This Expressive?

This just seems a little over the top. I pay more attention to the interpreter than to what our Governor is saying. The past ones used were never like this. I'm not the only one to notice this.

You can actually hear the interpreter huff as they express themselves, self? Also, this is a bad example of social distancing.

There was a woman doing SLI on one of the COVID-19 addresses the other day who was hilarious, made this guy look tame.

I imagine that has something to do with the tone of the message. We express a lot of information with the tone of our voice. I don't know this for a fact but my guess is that's the interpreter's way of imparting some of the mood for the hearing impaired. I think (and hope) he's be more subdued doing a funeral.

I 'heard' toilet tissue......it doesn't get anymore PC than that....I'm surprised the 'sign' didn't involve Rx bendover with a 2 finger scooping motion...

I might have to hire that cat for a stinkfist presentation.....I'd do it just to see if he could keep up with the stinky-poo....

Um, is that a man with big earrings or a woman in a suit?

This isn’t overly expressive for most deaf or hearing impaired people. Maybe people probably aren’t used to seeing interpreters use that much expression but it is very common in ASL.

During Hurricane Matthew South Carolina's ASL interpreter Jason Hurdich became a cult hero.
