I'll bet they wouldn't have shown it if we'd have won. Just a hunch.

I haven't watched it since I there in person. I watched it today until the end of regulation also. The last five minutes or so I kept thinking how the hell did we blow this game.03-banghead

I have never watched the replay and probably never will. That was the single most crushing loss and I have watched sports my entire life. Still sickening 12 years later.

Me, too. No interest in watching the train wreck that was overtime. Jeebus. That game is still such a tough watch. So freakin' close. It was ours. Free throws, yeah, I get it. But a big turning point was the late steal (where the KU player was actually out of bounds before the shot) and triple. Huge play.

Was wondering the same thing. But I know now. CDR missed the front end of a one and one then missed 2 on a shooting foul with 16 seconds left. He really shouldn’t have gone for that dunk with the clock running out.

He could have dribbled toward the sideline to kill more time, or could have flipped the ball back to a wide open Dozier for a 4 point lead with 15 seconds left.

The missed out of bounds call by POS Hightower was the game changer. Don't **** up that easy call and we are still up 7 shooting free throws and at least 10 more seconds run off the clock.

I don't remember that, what?

Billy packer told them during a TV timeout to check a 3 by Rose because his foot was on the line.

Huh. If so, inappropriate. Were they even supposed to review then?

Watched tonight for the first time in 12 years. Man, forget all of the crap about if they shoulda called this, or they shoulda called that. We choked. CDR royally choked. Cal royally choked on that last play (but had coached a near flawless game to that point). Weird how 12 years and less emotion gives clarity, we deserved to lose that game on our performance.

Still wanted that foul on the last KU possession in regulation as they were coming up court (with the Calipari deer-in-the-headlights looks) & our missed FTs.........SMH. But couldn't watch the OT.

RE: 2008 National Championship airs Sunday on CBS
The thing that always stands out to me was how Bill Self kept throwing changes at us and Cal couldn't counter. When Kansas went to Box-and-1 to take away CDR, we had nothing. Essentially you have 4 on 4 with D.Rose breaking down a 4 man zone. Idk why Rose was never instructed to penetrate the zone and create.

But, as I've said before, this was a very very good team that I enjoy watching EVERY chance I get. But the feelings of this game remain the same. It always puts me in a funk. Hate that we couldn't finish it off. Up 9 with 2:12 to go.......

04-cheers to getting back!! GTG

IF Collins doesn't stumble he dribbles the ball to the elbow where he is well covered and Chalmers is still well covered. We did foul Collins and the refs didn't call it. They knew what was going on. The blown out of bounds call flat out gave Kansas a chance when they had none. The two shots by Arthur, one from the elbow, and the other that hits the side of the rim, then the backboard, then rolls in were crazy.

The Rose free throw was a 1/4" away from going in on the original trajectory and another 1" away from going in off of the carom off of the backboard.

It wasn't just one thing. Literally everything had to happen the way it did. If 1 out of 10 things don't go exactly as they did, we win.

I watch the game along with Michigan State, Texas and UCLA because we played beautiful basketball; I love watching us, no matter what happened at the end.

Self agrees with you, in commenting on game said that Collins stumble at handoff really worked in their favor.
Handoff is automatic switch on D which would have put Anderson in Chalmers' face with Rose switching off.
Self said Collins falling looked like it caused them to hesitate and not switch.

As it relates to attacking Box and 1 criticism, and again it's on Self twitter account - Box and 1 unleashed Rose. He flatly states and apologizes to Kansas fans 12 yrs later for screwing up. Rose hit a 3 1st play in Box after they had been in a Triangle which Memphis broke down for 2 layups consecutive possessions.

I understand why many would like to blame Calipari for everything - but not for this according to Kansas coach on twitter Memphis destroyed his gimmick Ds

That foul really wasn't as obvious as it should've been. In fact, if that was Cal's tactic, you tell the officials what your intentions are so that you get the call.

When Chalmers let it go, I knew it was game over. Not just OT, but the whole shootin' match.

Any illusions I had of Cal's being a master tactician and strategist were dispelled for me that night in 2008.
