RE: Rams release Todd Gurley
As a big Rams fan, I am excited about this move for obvious reasons. Todd had completely reached his pinnacle, and he is falling at an incredible speed. Darrell had times where he looked pretty good, but I think majority of Rams fans would say he did not capitalize on his opportunities like we had hoped. This boost of confidence could really make him have a great year. Jared Goff desperately needs a running game to be successful.

He really blew it when he didn't show out in the 14 games he had with 6 or less carries.

Sports in general, when a player gets limited opportunities they tend to try too hard and overthink.

Gurley is a truly great player whose career is being derailed by that knee issue.

During the preseason I remarked that the Rams' offensive line play was horrible, but thought it would sort itself out when the season started. Maybe the knee prevented Gurley from getting a lot of carries, but I honestly didn't think that he looked different from previous seasons, and Henderson looked really good.

Their longest run from scrimmage all season by a running back was 25 yards. Henderson had one for 22 yards. That is almost impossible even with a crappy offensive line.

In an early season game he was put in for a series where he gained almost 40 yards on two carries. They took him out, and he barely saw the field the rest of the season. F that coach.

Rams didn't release him because they felt they were in a good situation at Running back.

The released him because he is nowhere near worth $10 Million anymore.

Teams don't just cut 25 year old All pro RB's. He is being cut because of the knee injury, I think that is pretty well known by all.

It sounds like its an arthritic/degenerative issue similar to the Terrell Davis injury years ago. He can still play for a few years, but his knee will literally be a week to week issue until he retires.

Excited for Darrell but I hope they can fix the O-Line as it was atrocious last year.

RE: Rams release Todd Gurley
Falcons signed Gurley to a one yr, $5m "show me" contract. Regarding Rams, they had to pay Gurley a roster payment of approx $7m but avoided a much larger payment had he remained a Ram another day.

Hope DH has the opportunity & can show he's the man. Unfortunately Rams proved to have the 2nd worst offensive line in the NFL last season. That will make it difficult, especially for a guy who needs a small gap at the point of attack to make consistent yardage.

Ok Rams, with your first pick select a tackle.
It’d be a start. Give DH just a little crevice and he’s in the secondary.

The Rams didn't release Gurley because he wasn't good or anything like that, they released him because he is no longer worth the amount of money he has in his contract.

Besides, Malcomn Brown is still ahead of him on depth chart

RE: Rams release Todd Gurley
The Rams will use both Brown and Henderson, alternating between short yardage, pass plays, match ups etc...this decision likely didn't just happen...I bet the Rams have known what was coming for a while

The Rams signed him to that contract just 18 months ago. Whats changed is the knee situation.

Rams draft FSU RB Cam Akers with their first pick. Not sure that is good news for Darrell Henderson. Not terrible though since most teams have several RB's.
