CoronaVirus Experiences
This is kind of comical, but its about the very serious pandemic. You are welcomed to share any Corona Experiences whether they are serious or comical.

So, my 73 year old mom asked me to come check her tablet and to get it back online last night. I told her I would be by today. So I go over there about an hour ago. She cracks the door open and hands me the tablet, then hands me a plate of my favorite dish, collard greens and cornbread, which she told me she had for me last night. So I said "Arent you going to let me in?" She says "Sorry honey I cant take any chances with the Corona. Let me know when you get it working." And she closed the door in my face.

What happened to parents supposedly be willing to give their own lives for their children?

She has about an 5-8% chance of dying if she gets Covid-19 and a much higher risk of ending up in ICU, assuming she can get an ICU bed. In Northern Italy the hospitals have been so overburdened that they did not even treat those 70 and older, reserving their scarce resources for younger patients who were more likely to survive with treatment. The patients 70 and older were just allowed to die without treatment.

Got a link on that? Sounds like a provocative read.

Reuters reports that the situation is particularly bad in Norther Italy where some patients are in fact left to die because of triage rules
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-healt...SKBN2133KG

Not surprisingly, Snopes says there a "mixture of true and false" information out there, apparently in an attempt to - believe it or not - politicize the issue (hard to believe, huh?)

Here's the mortality rates. Someone else has linked to the Northern Italy situation. There are strong signs that much of the U.S. is heading down the same path as Northern Italy.

I hate to be such a downer but you can't overstate the seriousness of this situation. We'll all going to have deaths among our friends and relatives.

That has been evident for many of us for some time.

There still is a significant bloc of deniers, though.

The governor of California has just announced a state wide shelter in place order. It’s coming to the state you’re in, soon.

RE: CoronaVirus Experiences
In between my house and one of my neighbors is a stub street they put in while building the subdivision back in the early 80's for Phase II. Problem was Phase II was entirely in the 100 year floodplain so they never built it, giving me and my neighbor essentially a 200' long common driveway that feeds into our actual driveways.

Last night I dug an old truck rim out of the basement, put it in the middle of the stub street and used it as a firepit. They sat in their driveway, we sat in ours and we enjoyed some social distancing fellowship and cold beer for about 4 hours.

From Yahoo! News: A group of Florida college students traveling together on spring break have tested positive for the novel coronavirus
Yeah, go ahead and party... don't bother to take precautions... there's better than 95% chance you'll survive anyway (we think).

RE: CoronaVirus Experiences
So my sister and my cousin facetimed me today. They live in Sarasota. After I told them that we canceled our plans to come down there this thursday for a couple weeks, they told me Good, Ya'll stay up there and dont be bringing your corona virus down to us."
We laughed but I can tell there was some seriousness in what they were saying.

I havent left the house since last Thursday. My youngest son, poor guy just got engaged last week, can only go to his girlfriends house with her parents or my house. They have to spend most of their time facetiming or skyping.

My wife and I are going to have dinner with several other couples next week by using Zoom, which is amazing to me, a guy who grew up in the late 70's and 80's, with the most advanced technology being cable tv, with the flat box that you slid the lever to get to the channel you want which lights up. Lots of ways these days to pass the time without going stir crazy.

RE: CoronaVirus Experiences
A friend of mine just told me today that he went to his hometown to attend the funeral of someone who, yes, died of the Coronavirus. Of course without thinking about it he hugged several people at the funeral. Since then, someone else who was in attendance has died of COVID-19. Now he's worried.

MORAL: If you need to support the family of someone who died, do what you must, but remember - the deceased may have already passed it on. Use caution at ALL times.

Did your friend live in Georgia? A big southern funeral infected an entire town.

RE: CoronaVirus Experiences
Found out today my aunt and uncle have tested positive, first instance for someone I know personally. In their case, they are retired and spend the winter in So Florida. They managed to get tested after mild symptoms started. The test results took so long that when they got confirmation today that they have it, all symptoms have been gone for several days already. The health department did instruct them to quarantine at home for 14 days counting from today.

Glad they are both okay as they're both approaching 70.

No, it was in North Carolina.

Wow, Glad that they seem to be making a full recovery. They are fortunate that they had mild symptoms. Fortunately, I dont know anyone personally who has tested positive for the virus. My wife is an administrator with the Rochester School district and she oversees and visits special Ed depts at 4 different schools. The first person to die of the virus here in Rochester was the stepfather of one of the students that she assists with. The whole family had to be quarantined. Fortunately, she had not had any contact with that child in a month before his step father died. The district has kept that pretty much, hush hush.

Very sorry to hear that. Hope everything works out in their favor. How old are his children? I havent hear anything about little children getting critically ill from the virus.

They are all grown. Hoping these antibody treatments shows promise.

I believe a preteen and a baby have died.

Thanks for the well wishes.
