But S-I-L has a Doc friend in hospital now. 40 YO’s, on a ventilator.

I know 2 people. One local the other in Dallas/Fort Worth.

None, but I really do suspect more people have it but arent sick enough or have enough symptoms to bother going to a doctor. They will be over it in days

Nothing confirmed, but I have a nephew and his spouse who are sick. Haven't been tested yet. Also had a niece whose roommate has a 103 degree fever, so my niece is one nurse who can't work.

I think I already had it and recovered from it... no joke. Same with my wife, back around Christmas.

None. But my 81 yo Aunt was sick around Christmas and kept going to the doc, ER etc. hoping to get admitted. My mom took her to the Med clinic my Aunt always went to. Had the same symptoms. No appetite, shortness of breath, fever. Tested for flu-negative. Put her on Prednisone and sent her home. My mom and dead found her on the kitchen floor the next morning, dead. That was Dec. 27. Wife had same symptom last Spring. Went to Urgent Care, they told her to go to ER. Pneumonia. Three days in hospital. That was April of last year. This has been around for a while. Again. There are lots of bugs out there. If there was a test for all of them, everyone who gets sick would have something. Think about it, 10% or so of all those tested, test positive. That means the other 90% have something else.

I can't quote the stat off the top o' me skull, but >80, pneumonia has to be in the top 3 killers within the eldest of the elderly....

what's really fk'd up, is all 'elective' surgical procedures are mow on hold in the 'burg due to this bs...

I was sick as a dog starting the day after Christmas, I thought then it was the flu. I still don't feel right, every day I feel like I'm right on the verge of a cold. I'm constantly fatigued and I have always been a very high energy person, pretty athletic and strong. I feel like an old man now which may not be that surprising since I am. I even went so far as to shell out 1400 bucks cash for an echo-cardiogram and a stress test last week at the urging of my doctor wondering if I wasn't having heart issues - I'm almost the same age as my dad when he died from a heart attack - but those came back OK. If I'm busy doing something I don't notice it as much as when I'm idle. I'm beginning to wonder if it was really the flu as I never went to the doctor for it, only after about a month to 6 weeks from recovering from the worst of it did I go because of how I felt after the symptoms abated and have felt since then.

As an aside and to the poster here whom I met in a chance encounter last night, thanks for the interesting meeting but maybe we shouldn't have shook hands! It really is just an instinctive response we all need to start inhibiting. It was a pleasant surprise though and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and your son-in-law. I'm well pleased I was able to help him out in a mutually beneficial arrangement and hope he is satisfied with everything. 6 degrees of separation proved itself as a real thing and am glad you have advanced closer to the center of my monkey-sphere (Dunbar's Number).
