Linebacker Diego Neri (6-2, 230) of Cincinnati Northwest High School announced his commitment to Central Michigan this evening, via Twitter.

A consensus 3-star recruit rated among the top 20 players in Southwest Ohio's 2021 class, Neri chose the Chippewas over reported scholarship offers from Toledo, Western Michigan, Bowling Green, Miami, Ball State, Ohio, Akron, Eastern Michigan, Army West Point, Air Force, Navy and Liberty.

Central Michigan was the first FBS school to offer Neri a scholarship, Oct. 12, 2019. He becomes the first member of the Chippewas 2021 recruiting class.

Steve, not sure if it's a family issue or if a P5 or possibly Cincinnati has come in on him. Only time will tell.

I'm quite sure this doesn't sit too well with the CMU coaches and I expect more recruiting battles with the Falcons in the future.
