RE: 2020 Transfers...
Ferron Flavors Jr is transferring to Oklahoma St.

Also CBU having this much turn over should be alarming to most if they truly feel CBU is the 2nd best team in the WAC with a lot of bright days a head.

CBU was the 2nd best team in the WAC last year. It looks like teams are struggling to stay atop the WAC pyramid, after number one, of course...

Anybody remember back in the early 2000's where every two weeks they'd announce they'd taken out the #3 person in ISIS? #2 in the WAC is getting to be like that.

Maybe what's going on is the lesser WAC coaches believe (correctly) that taking out #2 is an attainable goal for their signature win, and focus their efforts on doing that despite any smack talk about taking on NMSU.

This made perfect sense for Flavors. He is an excellent three point shooter and now he gets to play at a Big 12 program where he will get a chance to participate in the NCAA Tournament and in front of a lot of scouts. Oklahoma State is bringing in the No.1 recruit in the country and has a top ten recruiting class. Flavors will need to show that he is more than just a shooter.

Flavors will be replaced. CBU has a graduate transfer coming in from Stanford (Isaac White) and Ty Rowell will return from his knee injury. I like the graduate transfer rule. I think it is good for the athlete and should work out well for Flavors. CBU has transfers coming and going. CBU added Brandon Boyd this past season as a graduate transfer from Idaho State and he became the newcomer of the year in the WAC. Milan Acquaah was a transfer from Washington State and Flavors a transfer from Fairfield. Center Zach Pirog a transfer from Omaha. Just the normal process of college basketball players doing what they think is best for themselves.

CBU has five vacant scholarships to fill. CBU is okay at guard "if" Milan Acquaah returns for his senior season. What CBU needs to recruit is size. With Davis, Pirog, Buol, Morison, and Forsyth gone Croy needs to scrabble to find big men who can play immediately.

CBU is more than "okay" at guard if Milan Acquaah returns. I think he is interested in the NBA, but with everything going on, the timing may not work out for him. I think he would be better off staying another year and getting his degree. CBU has one big man coming in from TCU, a guy that was rated a four star by ESPN coming out of high school. He will bring size. They could use a couple more big men.

Looks like BCG is clearing space (opening up scholarships) for D1 level recruits. According to Verbal Commits, Josh Williams and Xavier Fuqua are transferring from Tarleton State.

Yes, but Thomas is the fourth D1 transfer to join CBU in this recruiting class. CBU is "loading up" on D1 transfers not "loaded" with D1 Transfers.

Elijah Thomas was a 3 star recruit out of Peoria, Arizona, who also had offers from Colorado State, Nevada, Fresno State, Memphis and GCU. He will bring depth to the roster. He didn't get a lot of playing time at St. Mary's, but he shot 43% on three pointers last season. If he can play 15 minutes a night, knock down an open three and play defense, it is a good addition.

CBU has brought in a number of D1 transfers who were highly rated high school prospects but for various reasons didn't quite achieve the level of success they were expected to given their hype.

Stanford transfer Isaac White (6'2, 180, GR) - 4.2 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.7 apg
St. Mary's transfers Elijah Thomas (6'5, 220, GR) - former 3-star HS prospect - 2.3 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 0.2 apg.
TCU transfer Russell Barlow Jr. (6'10, 235, SO) - former 4-star HS prospect, eligible Mid-December - 0.0 ppg, 0.2 rpg, 0.2 apg
Florida transfer Gorjok Gak (6'11, 244, GR) - former 4-star HS prospect - 0.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.0 apg

From Isaac White's video, he appears to be a good three point shooter very similar to Ty Rowell in ability. Gorjok Gak appears to be a solid big men. In his video, he appears to wear a knee brace on his right knee. I wonder if this has hampered his development?
Elijah Thomas looks to be a fairly good athlete who shoots the three efficiently. And, Russell Barlow looks to be an under utilized big man with raw athleticim. All these players have been given a second chance to resurrect their basketball careers in a conference where the talent level of the competition is not quite as challenging; aside from NMSU.

GCU adds Weber State transfer Dima Zdor. (6'10, 215, JR-to-be). Not sure if he is eligible right away. But with this addition, GCU now has four players 6'10 or taller...Lever, Bangai, Midtgaard, and Zdor. BTW, Dima Zdor was a former 3-star HS prospect; according to Rivals and 247Sports website. So, Drew must see potential.

Not an impact player at Weber St, but Drew is definitely building up that front line. I wonder how many 2019-20 games Coach had to watch until he was sick of seeing GCU get murdered in the paint without a rim protector or any interior defense? I'm guessing halftime of the Davenport exhibition.

I think Bryce Drew is taking a Marvin Menzies approach on how to win in the WAC. He is building a SEC sized roster that will dwarf most WAC line ups. And, Drew will probably introducing a power type offense which feeds the post a lot and pounds the glass. With all the size, GCU can occupy a lot of space defensively. if coached correctly to use their length to defend and alter shots (unlike under Majerle) it will be difficult to score in a half court offense. I don't think GCU will run as much under Drew. He is more methodic in his offensive approach. In the past, Drew's teams typically score in the low 70's. But if they win, Lopes fans and the Havoc shouldn't mind.

GCU, CBU, and UVU have moved in this off-season to get bigger. I just hope NMSU can land 6'8 Jaquan Scott or another capable big man to add size.

Having size does not translate into being good. Remember what a bust Tanveer Bhuller was? Give me good over size any day. So far none of the big guys WAC schools are getting are not having me overly concerned.
