My most memorable game was my freshmen year over Christmas break, 95/96. We played OU -I think. Nate Reinking hit a buzzer beater to win the game. The next week I joined Flasher Brass.
Also, someone said Mitchell/Huffman shared the same brain. This is the best way I could describe it. Those two could run the court parallel like nothing I've seen. That defense/speed turned many games around before opposing coaches could even get subs in. Bringing in Gates just stifled the rest of the conference in 2001.

Alphaflash, their sharing the same brain is what happens when players play together so long. Look how many players on Kent State's greatest teams played together a long time. Those days are gone in college basketball, just like in the NBA. Heck, even in high school, to a lesser extent.

I don't think those days are completely gone, but yeah they're fading. We were lucky to have Walker and Avery together for 4 years. I'm hoping in 3 years we'll be saying the same thing about Santiago, Bennett, and Bainbridge and in 4 years about Davis and Hernandez. Huffman and Mitchell obviously benefited a lot from being together for 4 years, but they were also a cut above.

There will surely be many arguments about the best guards ever in the MAC, with Mitchell and Huffman being in the conversation.

But as a tandem, a backcourt duo, it would be hard in my mind to name a better pair in the MAC over the last 25 years in the MAC. That 'one mind' was a reality. I remember those guys saying they often changed assignments coming out of the huddle - which did not sit well with the coaches - but apparently did not impact the w/l column very much if at all.
