I annually view the All-MAC teams as a peak into the coming season. All I can say about the 2020 teams is OUCH!
Not only are the 3/4 teams senior loaded ... one has to think what juniors did make the list, several of the more prominent will likely leave due to transfer if recent history tells us anything.
Considering recent 'virus' rules for no spring recruiting allowed, men's basketball could take a massive talent hit that could drop the league from its usual 10-12 RPI ranking down to the 20s.
Like I said ... OUCH!!!
that's what everyone said last year after 17 of the league's top 20 players graduated and there was only a small dip in the league's ranking from like 9/10 to 11/12 depending on the rating formula. This year only 9 of the top 20 grad. As far as transfers, I don't see either of star jackson pgs leaving akron or toledo. b johnson could be a grad transfer but he has stated an intention to stay at WMU although i gues he and flowers future depends a bit on the new staff there. pippin at kent might have a grad option but he seems pretty tight with staff there and they should still be competitive. i don't see preston or vanderplas leaving a rising OU program under a strong coaching staff. not sure where BG is at but certainly if turner and plowden return they should be a league favorite so there's not an obvious reason for either to leave. el-amin and graves would need waivers and each plays for a solid program so again not an obvious reason to go. with the virus situation everything will slow down a bit and there won't be as intense of a transfer market without campus and team visits. guys may still move around as much but it won't be as quick. there may also be some seniors who get an additional year. while the ncaa has hinted senior basketball athletes won't likely qualify for waivers. in certain cases we will probably see exceptions. for toledo willie jackson only got 3 years of eligibility due to an ncaa transfer technicality, never played a full season and missed the post season his jr year (injury) and sr year (cancelled). toure from EMU is an older guy but also played only 2 full seasons of college ball and might have a case.
