While there are Libertarian causes and POV's that I agree with I do not see how you could ever free market your way to a solution to this.

Yeah this is exactly the kind of crisis you need government for.

DO UNTO OTHERS

I’m a libertarian and there are times where being able to go to the bar or restaurant or sporting event when you want just don’t seem as important to civil liberties.

You should read "The Cathedral and the Bazaar". While it is about open source software the differences and distinctions it makes applies equally to the government as the cathedral versus the free market as the bazaar.

It's attempting to, despite everything.

I was actually more talking about if you had zero government intervention in the economy right now how would this all go?

Certainly an interesting video but boy I don't know if I'd have the guts to be taking a DIV Vaccine.

Some of you need to go find a womb to crawl back up in...acting like its the end of the f'ing world. When up to this point all the facts show that if you are healthy and not 65 or over and sick. Even if you catch this you will come out of it no worse than any other winter where you catch a really bad cold or flu.

No wonder this country is where its at. F'ing people that want the government to make them do something or to protect them. Libertarians talk a good game but when shiit comes to shove...

no different than those on the right and those on the left. Need government to wipe your ass so dont f'ing start whining about those that actually do need help or when the government passes the next law to help us protect our-self

Stupid should hurt. It likely will if people stuff their head in the sand and decide not to take any steps to help themselves for the next couple weeks.

I have a friend, like me a pragmatic libertarian, who has suggested, "Why don't we quarantine the people at risk and let others go about their business, just taking reasonable care?"

While I agree with the sentiment, it isn’t possible.

Those with the lowest risk may bring it home to those at more risk and never have symptoms of the virus.

So if you’re a hermit under the age of 35 or 40, with no children or grandchildren, or don’t have a girlfriend or the prospects of ever having one, go for it. Just make sure you stay away from your parents and grandparents.

The question is how would we go about fully separating from those who are "at risk?" Like how many people who are in the low risk groups live with/are primary caregivers to at risk people? What's the plan for that? We gonna like round up all the old people and put them in designated old people containment units? Like I get the idea, but it would take massive levels of planning and coordination to actually fully quarantine the at risk populations. Not to mention with the incubation period being so long and you seemingly being contagious even before symptoms show this probably would have needed to be something we did ahead of time like a few weeks ago.

Yeah like I said above unless there's actually a plan in place to fully segregate these people from all contact with those of us going about our daily lives it doesn't do any good. I'm not gonna go visit my at risk family members anymore, and I've told my mom she doesn't need to go anywhere anymore until this is over, but dad still has to go places at least occasionally. If he gets it she's gonna get it no matter how much she quarantines.
