Let's try to get some football talk going
1. What team are people sleeping on that they should look out for (I don't care if you pick your team)?

2. Which position is the biggest concern for your team this season?

3. Which coach has the warmest seat now?

4. Who will end App's win streak (currently 19) against non-GS Sun Belt teams?

5. Talk about your QB situation if there's not an obvious returning starter:
(Who replaces Evans, Ellington, and Barker? Will Logan Bonner get his job back from Layne Hatcher? Will the struggling offenses of USA and Texas State go in a new direction?)

So in Georgia, Rush Propst has had his teaching and coaching certification re-instated. Where does he get his next job? He’s stated previously that he wants $180k. I’m thinking he ends up at Valdosta High School.

Sorry for hijacking your thread earlier. Getting it back on track!

1). I’m afraid to answer this one because it’s like putting the kids of death in a team.

2). For Georgia Southern, I’m always concerned about the OLine. We’ve had issues with it for years now. This years recruiting cycle looks promising. Other than that, the CBs and really the safeties also, are a point of concern. We’ll see how it shakes out during the off-season.

3). In regards to the sunbelt, there are a number of new coaches still in that leniency period. The Louisiana schools are safe. The Alabama schools maybe not so much. Coastal and TxSt will need goods year also I think.

4). It really depends on how this coach does. I don’t think he’ll be a tyson summers, but at this point it’s hard to know what you got. He could go either way. I’m going to go with A-State or ULL. He really could be great or a bust at this point.

5). Shai Werts...what time say about him. I think if he had a better line things would be different. There has been a noticeable trend in inconsistency. Sometimes he’s great, sometimes not so much. He does have a knack for winning which I can appreciate. It seems as if he has hit his peak though. I’d like to see the next man up get a few snaps next year so we aren’t completely leaderless on the field come 2021.

1. I have no clue. Georgia Southern prob top challenger to App in the East. A-State probably top challenger to UL in the west? App and Louisiana prob gonna be the preseason picks to win each division again.

2. OL is a concern for TXST still. We're bringing in a handful of D1 transfers that can hopefully help. LB has gone from the team's biggest strength to a concern as I think 7 of 8 LBs on the 2-deep last year were seniors. We have good starters at CB but may be really thin there this year.

3. I've got to go with Steve Campbell. Not sure how 5-19 wouldn't put you on the hot seat.

4. Louisiana. They will win the league this year.

5. I think TXST is likely to go in a different direction at QB. Gresch Jensen has transferred out, Tyler Vitt returns after starting 7 or 8 games last year, but I think Memphis transfer Brady McBride is the guy to beat for the starting spot this year. McBride and Vitt are set to battle it out.

That dude is a ******* and needs to just go crawl under a rock. He is also sniffing around some schools in the Birmingham area. He was involved with UAb last season and still talks about coaching in college. If he goes to a college, the will have them on probation his first week.

I'm assuming this is strictly an SBC discussion with my responses.

1. I'd say Texas State. I think they'll go 6-6. I dont think anyone is sleeping on App, UL, or GS. Arkansas State will likely go 8-4 or 7-5. I expect Georgia State and ULM to fall off with both of them losing their QB's because they were huge parts of those teams. South isn't there yet. I'm high on Texas States coaching staff under the new coach. If not them, maybe Coastal.

2. Biggest concern for App in my opinion is linebacker.

3. Coach with the warmest seat is Steve Campbell

4. UL (its bound to happen eventually. Why not this year?)

5. Zac Thomas

1. App struggles begin.

2. GS likely begins an upward trend with Debesse, Russe, and Sloan or the wheels
come off completely. Mediocrity is less likely than the aforementioned. History
sais GS does well when App struggles. App wins the head to head.

3. ULL dominates.

4. Texas state begins a slow but impressive move up.

5. USA begins to see the fruits of the dollars.

6. Ark state falls flat.

7. Ga state beats expectations.

8. CCU continues to struggle.

9. Troy continues to struggle.

10. ULM struggles.

This may be the year the bottom begins to knock on the door. It's coming!

It’s now or never for ULL, I think APP takes half a step back, still questions about Georgia Southern, but if they catch a few breaks will contend, Georgia State doesn’t contend, but I predict they will upset, and therefore ruin one of the contenders season, no idea what to expect from Ark St, but if they disappoint probably Blake’s swan song, Troy struggles and the seat becomes very hot for the HC, we see improvement from Tx State, and therefore better days on on the way, CC continues to struggle not only with wins, but keeping players from transferring, and the rest of the conference starts to wonder after making them members will pay dividends, ULM, USA, well...just do the best you can.

RE: Let's try to get some football talk going
Will be an interesting year for Troy and Chip Lindsey.

He has the deepest, and arguably most talented WR group in the SBC.

He has a monster RB group with BJ Smith returning, plus DK Billingsley, plus the Texas A&M transfer Charles Strong, plus the star high school recruit Kimani Vidal who will undoubtedly play early.

He will have a much deeper DB group with many starters returning.

The LB group will be fantastic, including Iowa transfer Jayden McDonald now eligible.

The DE group will be fantastic, and Auburn 4-star transfer Richard Jibunor has already impressed.

If Lindsey can find a QB and get the OL to gel again, Troy can have a very good season.

If Lindsey struggles again to get the program winning, he's going to be shown the door... no doubt about it. There is too much experience coming back, and he has an excellent S&C Coach that he can't lay blame on.

1. I don't know enough about other team's rosters to know who could challenge the top two. We all know App and ULL will be the favorites. Maybe Troy? I know GS has a lot of people returning which could be a good or bad thing.

2. On the offensive side of the ball, we need to work on the OL and blocking. The kind of offense we run requires a fast, athletic OL. We are still working through Tyson Summer's OL recruits and while they aren't bad players, they weren't recruited to run a Bob Debesse spread option. On the defensive side, CB and Safety are our biggest question marks this season. Big shoes to fill. Vildor has a good shot to get drafted.

3. So many of the coaches who under achieved this season were first year coaches. I have to imagine Troy fans weren't happy with the way their season went under Lindsey's first year. If they don't see marked improvement this coming season, I wonder if they'll pull the emergency stop in the middle of the season like GS did with Tyson Summer's.

4. I'd bet on ULL. They've had the most chances to. One of the games is bound to go their way eventually.

5. I haven't felt this good about our QB situation in a while. Werts is returning to finish his career as starting QB, and we have some new guys under him that are going to be explosive when they get their chance to start. These guys could be game changers.

1) USA - just based on their last 2 season records.

2) Oline - We need to open holes to get the running game going. We have inexperienced qbs that will need time to read the defense.

3) Steve Campbell - last 2 years not good, with a new stadium need more than 2 or 3 win season.

4) Arkansas State - They will play Lafayette, then Georgia Southern prior to that game.

5) Trotter will be the starter, he took over late in the season and was an effective qb. We had longer drives, didn't have all the big plays but the defense got some rest.

Going from 10-3 under the previous coach to 5-7 with the new staff and then starting next season 0-6 would be an almost identical scenario to ours. Y'all should definitely force reset if that happens. 0-6 is unacceptable especially at Troy where expectations are high.

His offense was too good for him to be a Tyson Summers. That defense is Tyson Summers-level stuff though.

Not sure how old you are, but if you remember the show “Two a Days” on MTV about a high school football program, he was the coach. The show was on nearly 20 years ago.
