He got paid a whole lot of money to coach a job that he was in no way qualified for, and we are going to get more bang for our buck the two years we are paying him NOT to coach than we got in any of the past four years.

The dude is in no way a victim.

I like the part where I assume what is an alumnus decides to educate us on the season in which he didn’t attend nor watch one game.

He not only was graduated from UAB, he was Kaleidoscope editor in chief.

This is just embarrassing. From the program that produced Kathy Kemp to this dude who can't spell "cancellation" (canceled or cancelled, but never cancelation. That's why there was a squiggly red line under it, genius). That's a way steeper fall than UAB basketball's from Gene to Rob.

That's not a message board post. That's a published work with your name on it. Show a little professional pride and do your damned job.

I don't get it. He was treated very fairly. Not UAB's fault the season ended as it did. The school did what needed to be done and I'm damn proud of it. Sends a message that our future can and must be better.

I'm never going to be proud to see a good man fail in public.

But I've been looking at the past five years' results on sports-reference-dot-com to make sure it was as bad as I remembered. It's worse. Haase left him a team that won 26 games with one senior, and everyone else came back. Coke-Lee and Dirk and Haxter and much more. Robert Brown left, J.D. Williams and Nate Darling came on. And we won 17 games.

The scary part is that Ehsan probably was the best choice of the Fumbles Finalists.

I fear UAB once again being used as the Trustees' private job pool, the Unemployment Agency for Bammers.

I am proud that UAB had the commitment to fund his buyout and the resolve to follow through with it. It definitely sends a message that times are changing at UAB. Mediocrity is unacceptable. This was a clear cut business decision and Ehsan being a nice guy was irrelevant.

I realize it wasn't a great day for the staff but it was a great day for our program.

The story as written is not bad but the headline of the article is terrible!

UAB gave Eshan four years to learn how to become a FBS HC. Other programs may not have given him that long to prove himself.

I wish Rob good luck in his future coaching endeavors and I hope UAB Basketball can bounce back to some form of relevance in Birmingham and in college basketball again.

Decent article bad headline. At least people won’t have to exaggerate the truth either way to make him look worse or better. He was a terrible fit for UAB and would have never won the fan base over. Had hey made the NCAAs people would have been on him like they were Haase even setting the win record. I’m happy for a coaching change and I’m happy Rob can go and hone his skills elsewhere.

Btw while some are still trying to bury him this year was his best coaching job to date. Not gonna argue. Just stating fact. Again glad for a coaching change.

No matter how you want to spin it, Ehsan got a raw deal"

Complete garbage.

4 years at $400k/yr = $1.6M + 800K buyout = $2.4 million for 4 years of work, or around what we paid Mike Anderson per year after going to the Sweet 16.

Ehsan got a sweetheart deal for being the worst coach in UAB men's basketball history.

It’s not fair to compare salaries a decade apart That being said Ehsan did not get a raw deal. He was paid to do a job(win basketball games) and he didn’t do that at the level UAB expects.

Yeah, prob a reach on that but point still stands. He will have been paid $600k a year for 4 years of coaching. No way that is a bad deal.

The article is dumb and completely wrong. Like others have pointed out he was paid VERY handsomely and given a ready to win team and he sucked. He didn’t get better year to year and we still gave him four years. Should’ve been fired last year. He’s not fit to be a D1 head coach right now and uab game him MORE than a fair chance..

He called a bunch of good inbound plays that converted this season.

He managed player substitutions better like subbing Ralat on offense and Brinson on defense when we were holding onto the leads late game.

he did a lot of bad stuff too though.

Can the spiraling apathy that started with UAB basketball in 2013 with formation of AAC, change with a new coach? I wish Ehsan well moving forward. But it's time for a change.
