Good to see Rick back in the USA again giving it the old college try. Nice gig until retirement without a lot of pressure. 07-coffee3

Like Iona is where Pitino wants to retire.

I'm already very upset that another bigger school will hire him away from Iona. That his "return" has already begun. Yeesh, we learned nothing from what got him kicked out. We're simply waiting for the NCAA in its wagon-circling to change its boundaries to soften the severity on things so it doesn't tarnish certain schools so badly.

He’s 67, has a no pressure job, and gets to live in NYC. I think he retires there. This is like Tark at Fresno, Fisher at SDSU, Tubbs at TCU, and Knight at TTU. None of those programs were close to powers when the old vet took over.

I just have a gut feeling he'll be coaching at St. John's in no time.

Why would he go to St. John's? 07-coffee3

Whoa whoa whoa..... Frank Martin is a Psychopath. Rick is just a Crazy Narcissist.

If he lands a top 25 recruit at Iona, the NCAA should immediately launch an investigation..... Like, Immediately!

Because I think they teeter on dumpster fire but would want someone that’s tight with the area and people know.

I could see them throwing big money at him. And I suspect Pitino’s presence in the area will generate some murmurs on sports radio for a bigger area school to grab him before someone else does.

I don’t think this is a longterm thing at all for Iona.

They won some big games this year with first year coach, Mike Anderson. The Johnnies job won’t be open for another two seasons at least.

Of the programs I was thinking he could land, UMass was one. That’s where he went to school and they’ve been mediocre for like five or six years. That job might pop up after next season.

I could see UMass and some other A10 schools, too. I just wonder if there's some interest to get back to the major conference scene. If he hops from Iona to UMass, that would take time away from that possible goal. I do think he wants to stay in the northeast, though.

True, but knows that if he can bring a winner quickly, can move up to that coaching hire that makes a difference.

I do have to admit that after looking up two well known head coaches, Calhoun and Bob Knight, the percentages are against him.
