you didn't know about Prince Toyambi's open heart surgery last fall? He had some serious changing of parts of his heart. I hope he can play and hopes the surgery corrected everything and he can be healthy again.
It was a lot more than an irregular heartbeat.
i thought it was still up in the air he could play. to the best of my knowledge, people was all like, i dunno. shruggs. i know it seemed pretty unlikely but what the hell's he still doing sorted dressed for games, sitting on the bench. i wish prince could suit up and all but it'd be nice if jb and co would come out and say it's alright to start speculating on that third open spot. and who could forget doss' scathing rebuke of the african healthcare system
I think he was cleared to workout. I doubt they make any decisions in season for obvious reasons. He has had cardiac stress tests as per his twitter. I don't know for certain if that is something he has to do in progressions as he gets his stamina back or it's a one time issue. However, i would say if he could not play he probably would have announced it. He does post a few things on his twitter:

I have had 2 of the big cardiac tests. 1 they have a machine that takes pictures of your values and it show all the blockage. The other is where they give you meds or make you get on a treadmill to race your heart up to test the strength. If he cleared those I can see where they give him a OK.

You are wrong. He did take a series of stress tests, but was never cleared and most certainly never practiced. The situation with Prince leading to his open heart surgery was VERY serious. I can't imagine a situation where he is ever cleared to return here...
Thank you Chad.
Sorry everyone. I worded my post incorrectly. As Chad mentioned, the surgery did not completely have its desired effect.
The surgery itself was a success. What led to having said surgery was not something to be taken lightly. It was something that is going to make it very hard for the powers that be to ever clear Prince to return while he's at UC...

Wasn't too impressive against us in November but otherwise has had a stellar career. Would you take him?
Just looking at the stats I'd have to say yes. While we have guards for next year we don't have anyone with experience as the focal point the offense. If he's the type that can create with the ball in his hands for himself and others then I think he'd fill some of the JC void

All signs up here are that he was an absolute cancer in their locker room...he reported got into a fist fight with a teammate and assistant coach the weekend before he announced his transfer.

That's quite concerning if true. Just read on a BG board that we indeed have reached out but are going to face a lot of very high major competition for him.

Ugh. I hope our coaching staff does their due diligence if true. As fun as the 90's were, I don't want a full-on return to recruiting head cases and guys with legal problems.

I'm rolling that back...got my disgruntled Falcons mixed up. Dylan Frye was the headcase, not Justin Turner.

Well that's good news; thanks for the update. I'm cautiously optimistic that the transfer portal is going to really benefit UC this coming season. We have a solid base of returning players and recruits but a couple of ready now guys could take this team to the next level.

Carlik Jones from Radford via Aiken HS has entered the transfer portal and it looks like we're one of many high major programs to reach out so far.
20 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 5.5 apg, 40.9% 3FG last season.

He'd be a good Jaevin replacement, or even a stop-gap starter if Harvey isn't ready.

He is one that was brought up on here back when he was going through his initial recruitment as well, much like Macio Teague. Definitely seems like the kind of guy Brannen wants.

RE: 20-21 bearcats
Just listened to a Jeff Goodman interview with BG's Justin Turner. He name dropped a lot of schools that were actively recruiting him (including Xavier) and our name didn't come up so I assume we've backed off.
Also read that we've reached out to Santa Clara's Trey Wertz. 6'4 combo guard that averaged around 12, 4 & 4 while shooting 40% from 3. He has 2 years of eligibility remaining.
