20-21 bearcats
time to turn our attention to. allowing seniors another season is a pretty dumb idea and or ill conceived thought. tre and jc were phenomenal players but i'm ready to move on

speaking of seniors; tre was a joy to watch this year. seemed like he hit at a better clip than borderline thirties from deep. he mos def upped his game in the second half. terry said once after another tre board (this was early in the season) that he wants to grab every rebound. he could be like an offensive rodman not in a punny way but in a basketball sense. houston must have been confounding to trevon! that was the most frustrating game i've ever listened to. it was a classic in the making. and then jb gets t'd up without a warning a coupla days after his freaking dad dies for some bull and that team f'kn fell apart; didn't quit by any stretch; got within six and just couldn't hang anymore. anyway, (i guess this could also be a season recap thread feel free to share your highs, lows, mediums) he's forever got a place in jb's heart

jarron will forever be my homie. that's an old school bearcat

the mercs, jaevin, 'rolla, chris did their job and skated. it was super cool to see jc play with his cuz. double teamed by the cumberlands is a great call. who was better, mick's euro or jb's? kudos to chris for not quitting. he had a f'kn sh!tty year and didn't really seem to pout, was great on d, depth and had something of a late season renaissance. that was unexpected heading into march

and as the world turns

keith will teased us all with that jc-less usf game. is that the featured keith will? he could be a cerebral threat to the opposition

once vogt lost 'rolla he became less effective imo. jb said 'rolla was valuable as a practice man. not a slight, probably helped 'rolla on his technique to parlay in fancy euro land

how excited are you all for diarra?

zach and maw will shoot more

i don't understand why we wouldn't see prince. there wasn't any news saying otherwise. somebody said something about lawyers. 'sat all about?

the madsen brothers are ballers. what deficiency does mason possess that makes him so lowly regarded? has a nose for the rock

tari's gonna be sweet. i think gametime said tim morris is cousin's with romar who coached brandon roy who lately coached tari. a west coast recruiter? now that's a nice niche to carve in the midwest. get it done son

they say mike saunders is quick. our hair trade, lojo, imo, wore it better. i'm prepared for mike to lead our offense. he and tari most likely will have fun together

others

RE: 20-21 bearcats
Way to early to tell. My guess is this roster will change over the next 120 days. That said, Keith will have to lead. I think we get a lot better idea of Brannen's player development skills this offseason. Last year was a big fire drill as he has said as much. I hope everyone sticks around. Anymore as we saw with Wichita St.(and will see more) it's not a given.

There may be some Wichita State players in Cincinnati next year (probably not, but who knows).

I'm betting you see more movement this year unless the Ncaa declares some sort of temporary moratorium on the portal. Kids are likely going home with the cancellations, etc., an added month of downtime for all programs compared to usual. I can't think this will ease the movement of players.

RE: 20-21 bearcats
Starting 5
PG - MAW - I think we will see him take a big step year 2
G - KW - I expect the offense to be centered around him
G - Harvey - See above for MAW
PF - Diarra - I'm hoping it finally all clicks...the skill and athleticism are there
C - Vogt - Hopefully improves his double team recognition, and ability to pass out of it..

Bench
Tari Eason - ? Freshmen
Saunders - ? Freshmen
G. Madsen - ? Freshmen
M. Madsen - ? Freshmen
P. Toyambi - ? 3rd year redshirt never played. I can't predict anything about him. I just hope he is fully healthy.
Davenport - Great energy this year, torn ACL may hinder development. Hopefully he can get meaningful minutes as a reserve next year.

I expect we will get a grad transfer or two that will shake the current picture up some, but currently the most experienced bench player we will have next year is Davenport and he only played about 140 minutes the entire season.

Lush, it doesn't sound like you realize why Prince cannot play. He was sidelined with an irregular heartbeat. 50-50 at best (much less most likely), whether or not he returns.

you didn't know about Prince Toyambi's open heart surgery last fall? He had some serious changing of parts of his heart. I hope he can play and hopes the surgery corrected everything and he can be healthy again.
It was a lot more than an irregular heartbeat.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought he was medically cleared during the year and participated in practice.

I think he was able to ride exercise bikes and do cardio stuff. Doubt if he was playing in drills. Hopefully next year he does. Shaq O'Neal's son sat out a year after his heart surgery at UCLA and was playing early in the season until he quit the program and joined LSU, his dad's alma mater.

You are wrong. He did take a series of stress tests, but was never cleared and most certainly never practiced. The situation with Prince leading to his open heart surgery was VERY serious. I can't imagine a situation where he is ever cleared to return here...

Is there a process that allows UC to give the Prince his 4 years of education without counting against the BB scholarship allowance? Let him stay as a student assistant?

Thank you Chad.

Sorry everyone. I worded my post incorrectly. As Chad mentioned, the surgery did not completely have its desired effect.

RE: 20-21 bearcats
Here's hoping Davenport recovers. Kid has the heart and motor of a Bearcat and could develop into a leader like Tre.

I'm a bit concerned from tape that Eason has more of an Octavious mentality. Glad to be wrong.

It will be Keith's team, hope he realizes that.

RE: 20-21 bearcats
This will be Keith's team, but I think Diarra stands a good chance of being the second guy. With his size, athleticism and shooting ability he will be a tough matchup for other teams as long as he continues to improve. I'm guessing we will see a lot of 4-out (with Vogt in the middle) and Diarra setting screens for the pick-and-pop. Vogt is probably a bit too one dimensional to be the 1st or 2nd option, but if he can improve at double team passing and recognition, he will be tough to stop when we've got 4-shooters on the perimeter.

I expect to see a fair amount of "small ball" as well, with Diarra at the 5 and Eason (or a transfer) at the 4. That lineup seems likely to be our 21-22 starting lineup and close to Brannen's ideal with 5 shooters and 5 guys who can run the floor.

It's going to come down to who can earn the minutes. If Vogt can improve on D, he should get the majority. But if he continues to play like he did in conference this year, the door is open for someone else to take some of those minutes.

Harvey and MAW are also guys I expect to see start, but who I could see losing their spot to a freshman or transfer if they don't improve. Saunders seems like a more true PG than MAW, Eason or one of the Madsen's may take Harvey's spot if they can defend and rebound better than Harvey.

I'm hoping Brannen can pull a Cronin and find a way to get us to the NCAA tournament when it seems like we shouldn't make it. I expect to see a lot of different lineups early in the season to try to figure out what works. I think it's a safe bet that Keith and Diarra will be starters throughout the season, but I don't think MAW, Harvey or Vogt are secure in their starting roles.

Honestly not sure any sports are played over the next 12 months. Let alone trying to figure out the rosters.

If UC does keep most of the roster and recruits I actually like our chances for a good season.

It was a lot more than an irregular heartbeat.

i thought it was still up in the air he could play. to the best of my knowledge, people was all like, i dunno. shruggs. i know it seemed pretty unlikely but what the hell's he still doing sorted dressed for games, sitting on the bench. i wish prince could suit up and all but it'd be nice if jb and co would come out and say it's alright to start speculating on that third open spot. and who could forget doss' scathing rebuke of the african healthcare system
