Bellarmine.

Really hope you're right, but BU's roster is not as "stacked" as some over the past decade; so I'm not going into this season with the highest of expectations. Starting five should be solid, though.

Every school plays the same school for men's and women's on the same days.... but as opposite places.... how does this help for covid?

I have stopped trying to make any sense of COVID. Everyone’s an expert and all know nothing. It’s absurd.

RE: 2020-21 BASKETBALL SEASONS
Liberty picked up a couple nice players on the first day of the early signing period.

Brody Peebles | 6-2 | Guard | Hartselle, Ala.
Peebles attended Hartselle High School where he is ranked as the No. 2 prospect from the state of Alabama by PrepHoops.com and the #73 shooting guard in the nation.
Peebles signed with Liberty over offers from Alabama-Birmingham, Lipscomb, North Alabama, Belmont, Samford, UNC Wilmington, and Wofford.

Joseph Venzant | 6-3 | Guard | Midland, Texas
Venzant arrives in Lynchburg rated as the highest recruit in school history, as he is ranked as a three-star prospect and ranked as the 49th best shooting guard in the nation by Rivals.com. He is ranked as the 20th best prospect in the state of Texas by 247 Sports.
He committed to the Flames just days after Peebles did last December over offers from Cal State Fullerton, Tulsa, UTEP, UTSA, and Wake Forest.

The OOC home/away games is interesting.
Travesty that UofL didn’t schedule you, nor any other KY teams, especially NKU.

Yeah, I imagine the rivalry with NKU will be resumed sooner rather than later, though.

Interestingly, the BU women are playing three in-state foes: U of L, EKU, and WKU (in addition to Ohio State, Ball State, and Western Illinois).

Makes me wonder if, on the men's side, the low-to-mid D-I programs in the Commonwealth are a little leery of playing BU, not wanting to risk being the Knights' first victim in D-I.

Too bad the UCLA and Gonzaga games won't happen (at least this season), but I do like the non-con "sked."

RE: 2020-21 BASKETBALL SEASONS
Considering the horrible situation, I am very proud of the work done by the athletic department and men's basketball staffs in putting together this very good and realistic schedule. So thankful to Duke and Dayton for scheduling us and giving us a big time beat down while edifying the team on highest level D1 basketball. MTSU and UT-C are gracious for gving us home and away games. I am disappointed in Kentucky Schools who also have scheduling holes and should have been willing to work with us (maybe some tried, but just couldn't make it happen). NKU needs to be a yearly game, if not home and away. UoL , WKU, and UK missed an opportunity to put money in scalpers hands by playing us in Freedom Hall.

You know what's crazy, BU will have a chance at being top ten in attendance in the country if they "pack" Freedom Hall with 2800 fans per game.

I am really looking forward to the ASUN season. I expect we will be very competitive.

Is there any rumors/news swirling in the community or athletic department as to why no in state school would play Bellarmine? I understand the argument that they have nothing personally to gain and everything to lose by playing BU, but I’ve never bought into that argument. Bellarmine should be playing NKU and UofL annually, rotating the other KY schools on occassion.

RE: 2020-21 BASKETBALL SEASONS
Wednesday 25 November
Carver College & Kennesaw St.
Bellarmine @ Chattanooga
Eastern Kentucky @ North Florida
Liberty vs. Purdue
Oakwood @ North Alabama
Florida A&M @ FGCU
Campbellsville @ Lipscomb

There should only be two potential loses on opening day, Bellarmine and Liberty. None of the other teams better lose.

I'm not making the schedules, and dont pretend to know the dynamics, but we need to stop scheduling non D1 schools... I mean, at least schedule SWAC, MEAC, OVC, Southland lower D1 schools, but not others. I would be okay with Some D2 schools....

I'm primarily pointing my fingers at my own school if anyone has a problem with what is post... get tf over it.

BU Knights are gonna "shock the world."

Fingers crossed that we actually get to see hoops next week.

A poster on the Liberty board ot ASOR once gave a great explanation for this. I don’t remember it well. However, the gist of it was, it makes no difference strength of schedule wise in the eyes of the NCAA selection committee to play bottom feeder D1 schools and non-D1 schools.

I can’t confirm the validity of the statement though. And the lower division schools are virtually guaranteed wins.

But, I, like you, don’t believe we should ever schedule lower division teams.

You can point the fingers at Liberty too. I absolutely loathe it as well.

I have to back up a bit, after thinking about it, UNA had a stellar schedule lined up, but COVID screwed that up. I'm sure it had something to do with everyone's schedule.

My apologies schedule makers....

It was I. D1 schools go towards the Net rankings. D2 do not. So if you lose to the last place D1 school that lowers your net ranking. If you lose to a D2 school it doesn’t.

It may look bad but it actually helps the conference in the long run for warm up games.
