One slot filled.

6'5 SG Seth Millner. JUCO from Northwest Florida State College. Played a year at Cleveland State before that.

RE: New MBB Commit
alderson upgrade at the backup swingman role. better ballhandler. attacks the rim harder. a little bigger. not a high efficiency scorer. can make threes or miss them. at juco took a lot of shots. pretty good on the boards. can play guard at 6-6. or help a bit inside in a small ball lineup. not a transformational recruit. more of an "I wanna win now" recruit by coach K. him thinking, "damn, if i had 6-6 guy who could run pick and role and get us 6 or 8 points and 4 boards off the bench every night and plays like he wants to beat you this past season, we would have won more games". coach wants to get more nimble in the offensive playmaking. get acunzo on the court as a point forward. work in the freshman rollins as a scorer and playmaker. add in milner who started as a D1 freshman before a juco year. and the lineup 5-8 looks a lot more dynamic and versatile.

1st and 2nd unit 2019-20 (m jackson, littleson, saunders, w jackson, knapke - alderson, smith, maranka, moore, rs etherington)

in 2020-21 (m jackson, littleson, saunders, edu, maranka - rollins, millner, acunzo, moss, rs hill - w 2 or 3 new players TBD or i wouldn't be shocked if willie jackson returns on a waiver-since he already had a decent case for an extra year of eilgibility prior to losing his senior postseason to the pandemic quarantine-ncaa limited his eligibility clock to 4 years but only allowed him to play 3 seasons despite being a model student-athlete. plus due to injury in 19 and cancellation in 20 he missed the postseason 2 of the 3 years he was eligible to play).

face it. nothing personal against dylan, but he got chance after chance to contribute as a junior and rarely got it done. a passive kinda tentative player and personality on the court, as a senior i didn't see him having a leadership role. either a talented young guy was gonna eat up his minutes and he was gonna cheer hard from the bench and get a diploma. or he was going to transfer. remember, alderson was a uw-milwaukee signee who asked out after a surprise coaching change and ended up at UT. he can play D1 basketball, but he never had a productive year for us. if he took the sit 1 play 1 route and fine tuned his game and built up his confidence he could find a role on a mid major team, or he could go down a level and have a big role on a smaller stage.

One of the things Stan Joplin always said that I totally agree with you can never be guard poor in the MAC. (not his exact words)

As mentioned above... (Coach K) "if I had a 6'6" guy who could run pick and roll and get us 6-8 points and 4 boards off the bench every night and play like he wants to beat you.......

in reality: that guy probably wouldn't be playing in the MAC!

It would be a pleasant surprise to see Willie Jackson return but I'm not holding my breath on that possibility. Luke and Willie accounted for 28 pts and 20 rbs per game. That's a big void to fill by Maranka, Edu, Acunzo, Millner (a good rebounding G/F) and recruits or transfers to be named later. I'm guessing Saunders will be competing for minutes with Acunzo and Millner. I wonder if Maranka and Edu can play together or will perimeter defense suffer drastically when they are both on the floor? I was worried that Acunzo might not return due to his chronic injury but apparently he is still in Kowalczyk's plan.

If he could provide those numbers and play good defense As a 7th or 8th man I’d be happy.

Maranka was supposed to redshirt this year. I wonder if he will be redshirted next season. An extra year in the program might prove very beneficial to him and the team.

Agreed but I think they would have to bring in 2 more bigs or 1 big and Willie Jackson back to make that happen

only if we sign a juco or transfer that can help inside immediately or w jackson returns. maranka is gonna be a good one. gotta get stronger and work on his high pick and roll defense. i'd also expect his play to improve greatly once he and edu start practicing regularly against each other. AJ's defense will push maranka to improve his play attacking the rim.

RE: New MBB Commit
listed as 6-6 and a pretty solid guy. if you dig there's full game juco highlights. kind of a glue guy. good fundamentals and knows how to play defense. not great at anything but a good 6 man type who isn't afraid to battle or take a tough big shot. nice mid range stroke. can fire fairly smoothly from 3 but isn't all that pure. right now, he looks like a guy who thinks he's gonna swish that 16 footer but is just giving the ball a chance from 23. would have been a tough guard with the initial old school 19"9' three point line. ready to plug minutes bench upgrade, imo.
