Bass has input but he isn't an authoritarian making the decision on his own. Not sure what the quarantine has to do with the hire, but whatever. Siddle had the edge on recruiting IMO, as well as relationships with big donors formed when Keatts was here and a style of ball that was very successful.
What strikes me at the moment is the consequence of bad decision making.
Bass (or 'the committee') made a decision 3 years ago to take something that was going along successfully and vector it in a new direction , and the results were spectacularly bad. Now -it appears - that bad decision is being made right by going Back to the Future.
The problem is that going Back to the Future means once again taking something that could arguably be said had gone from a disaster to beginning to go along fine and re-vectoring yet again.
And sadly, along the way, a lot of people get hurt.
I hope and expect things to go well under Siddle. But the collateral damage makes me sad.
That's where I am, too. It's also unfortunate how much control Wendell Murphy has over who is coaching UNCW men's basketball since I've learned he was primarily responsible for this. I guess he thinks we are his bush training league for State.
There is absolutely ZERO truth to Wendell Murphy being primarily responsible for this hire. Spreading inaccurate information like that via a message board or social media is irresponsible. Use common sense...if the Murphy family was pulling strings like that, don’t you think Siddle would have been hired 3 years ago? Blown away at the stories I’m seeing on here and on Twitter etc. from those “in the know” just because Rob Burke did not get the job.
That’s one post here. They’re entitled to their opinion whether it’s accurate or not. You’re entitled to your opinion as well, right or wrong. However, if you’re gonna put posters on blast and say they’re being irresponsible I’d expect a little more evidence than what you provided to say they’re wrong.
That coin has two sides, just saying.
