Favorite Huskie Moments???
So I wanted to try and step us all away from the ledge here with all the COVID-19 craziness/speculation and I LOVE the video/highlight thread but realize that actual videos are in much smaller number than our collective memories so: What are some of everyone's favorite NIU Football Games? Individual plays or moments? Doesn't have to be the biggest game or most important game or anything, just special games/moments for you personally??

For example one of the first things that I think of when I think about NIU Football is the 63-60 win over Toledo in 2011 when TommyLee as a freshman returned 2 kickoffs for TD's. One of the most fun football games I have ever witnessed at any level.

Another is Jimmy Ward's full layout one handed tip and interception of a pass against Toledo in 2013, one of the most remarkable plays I have ever seen live. Also from that game was Boomer Mays' intercepting the Toledo jump pass from the 1 yd line.

My personal all time favorite however, is the 2013 Iowa game. I originally thought I wouldn't be able to make the game because I was due to be traveling for work that weekend so I didn't get tickets through NIU like I normally would for a road game. At the last minute my trip was rescheduled so I grabbed the first 2 tickets (myself and my dad) I could find online and hit the road. Seats turned out to be smack in the middle of a section that was 100% Iowa season ticket holders. They were the most obnoxious opposing fans I have encountered in the hundreds of football games I have played in, coached, or attended as a fan in my life. The seats were directly in the sun for the entire game on that blistering 106 degree day. The Iowa fans around us belittled and taunted us at every Iowa success and complained about terrible officiating and clear luck at every NIU success. Watching Jimmy Ward intercept that pass to the flat and return it down the sideline was glorious. Watching the game winning FG soar through the uprights was pure bliss. Neither of those moments, however, could even come close to the absolute glee of what came next. The biggest, loudest jerk in the section looked me straight in the eyes and declared loudly "we just lost our easiest game of the season" as some kind of attempt at insulting the status of an NIU program coming off an Orange Bowl appearance. To which I looked back into his eyes and responded "well you do have national powerhouse Missouri State coming in next week." The color of his face was matched in shade of red only by the Huskie jersey numbers as even his fellow compatriots laughed! ABSOLUTE. GLEE.

For me, it was the Maryland home game. That game was so special. I was so hyped that there was no way I could sleep that night. On the way out of the parking lot, a local business guy gently bumped into my car. I did not even get out to look because I was so pumped that I just didn't care.

Although I was not there in person, I watched it on TV and was so excited I think I stood most of the game. It was truly one of the best NIU games I ever watched. That was a special team and in some ways, one of the best years in the MAC as it had at least 2 ranked teams in the top 25 and I think maybe 3. It was a special year for NIU and the MAC.

One other special time was when NIU made the NCAA and played St. Johns in Dayton. My dad and I made the trip down there to watch the game. We were down about 20 at half time. The crowd got behind NIU and the game got within 4-5 points in the 4th and it was a fun experience because no one knew where NIU was from. They just started rooting for the underdog. We lost that game in the end, but for a few minutes, we believed we were going to finish the comeback and win the game.

Loved the lopsided Huskie victory at Purdue. I remember telling a Purdue fan to let his coach know not to kick the ball to Tommylee and then seeing him burn them. Also loved watching Jimmy Ward's pick 6 and seeing the team go into the stands to thank the fans after the game.

I will also never forget Tommylee's back to back kick off returns against Toledo ... I hate Toledo.

All of the above. I also especially remember the 2011 MACC comeback win against Ohio. Unbelievable. And the MACC against Kent that sent us to the Orange Bowl.

Yep, "the comeback" ranks up there

Robinson and Team went nuts. Pettibone at half time: Guys, just keep it going! Pretty special day to see all the fans storm the field. School spirit was at an all time high.

Biggest memories:

Football - Maryland game in August 2003.

Basketball - MAC quarterfinals vs. Ohio, March 1982. Comeback from being down 20+ in second half. Greatest NIU comeback I ever witnessed. We proceed to Ann Arbor afterwards and win the MAC championship and get 1st NCAA bid.

After Harnish had a long TD run to close out the half. the camera caught Tim Beckman saying "oh, f---." You couldn't hear him (Huskie Stadium was too loud) but it was a classic moment.

At #1 The Ohio State, when Argeros Turner scored not even 3 minutes into the game to put the Huskies up 7-0, you could hear a pin drop...except in one little corner of the end zone where the NIU faithful were yelling, hugging, and high-fiving like crazy people. 103,000 red and silver faithful new this little team from DeKalb had come to play.

Favorite Huskie Moments???
My favorite moment was when Ricardo Patton autographed a basketball for my wife and me. It was my favorite moment because while he was signing the ball, he couldn’t be doing anything at that time to further screw up the Huskies.
