How will Coronavirus impact the Coaching Carousel?
Some coaches won't get to miss the postseason triggering their dismissal.
Some coaches on death row ended the season with a big win and now have twitter chatter of an extension (hi, Dave Leitao).
Some programs won't acquire the money from NCAA payouts needed to buyout their coach.

In addition, some big money donors are less likely to let go of $$$ in an unstable financial environment.

Ben Jacobson gets to do this all again at UNI.

Last night was interesting. Colorado's stock dropped further, but Xavier and Stanford ended their journeys earlier than desired, too. UNI kinda got a little break?

Yeah, the program who might benefit most is UNI. They weren’t making the tournament. Jacobson doesn’t get poached. And they return their top 3 players next year which includes a future NBA’er and have an incoming recruit who’s setting Iowa HS records.

Grand Canyon wouldn't really do this, would they?

This means a bumper crop of coaches to choose from to replace Pastner next year.

You would think this could hurt a mid major coach that could win a game or 2 in the tournament from getting an opportunity.

RE: How will Coronavirus impact the Coaching Carousel?
I agree. I think there will be a tremendous decrease in the annual coaching carousel this Spring. No college/university will want to divert resources to a coaching search, interviews, buyouts and new contracts with schools across the country choosing to shut down and with distance learning taking effect.

What could be an effect, however, is next Spring seeing an abnormally high rate of turnover on the coaching carousel (hopefully, when things calm down). More fans/resources will likely be pumped in to athletic programs in order to satisfy the craving of "win-now" for sports-starved fans and alumni.

Hard to believe we are now seven months away from college basketball. Very sad.

Not to mention there is a freeze in the recruiting process. It's going to be even more challenging for a new coach to salvage a recruiting class with a shorter recruiting period.

I would suspect we see a much lower number than normal.

Both of these are true.

There is some coaching turnover now, but not at normal levels. Next season, there should be a higher than normal turnover rate.

Some coaches will keep their jobs for an extra year when they may have been otherwise let go.
