And now we have teachers' unions fighting against teachers holding virtual classes. The teachers' unions have really exposed themselves as the political entity that they are during this period. It is clear that they don't care about students or teachers. All they care about is wielding their power to effect the political change that they support.

Gee, then he’s got something in common with roughly 100 million Americans in the private sector, who would like to get the gov’t teet-suckers in the teachers’ and other public-sector unions to appreciate that their lives and livelihoods are not more important or special than anyone else’s.

Yeah, surely he wants to send children to their deaths in droves just to keep his job, or alternatively you're wrong. So let's apply Occam's Razor to this one and see where we land.

Glad she was able to see the humor and not take it personally. I thought it was a little corny but funny nonetheless. I had never seen this site before, I may check out more of their stuff.

And, just like that, fascism takes another step forward:

https://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2020/07/3...er-latest/

Now this is how to court political favor with the teachers’ unions.

"Robert Redfield of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) testified on Friday that this fall, the United States must reopen schools that were shut down to stem the coronavirus spread because failing to do so would be detrimental and even deadly for the development and health of students K thru 12.

During a hearing by the House Oversight and Reform Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), the top Republican on the panel, asked Dr. Redfield, “Do you think that schools should safely reopen this fall with in-person learning?”

“Yes, I think it’s important to realize that it’s in the public health best interests of K thru 12 students to get back in face-to-face learning,” the CDC director responded. “There [are] really, very significant public health consequences of the school closure.”

An observation of mine today: Redfield’s testimony before Congress got WAY less coverage than should be expected.

Yep. How much coverage do you think it would have gotten had he said all schools, including private schools must close to protect our children? My guess is front page status.

If it bleeds it leads. If it doesn't fit the narrative it's buried.

The irony here for me is every detail she describes about how a country is taken over could simply say fill in the blank, socialism/facism. trump has been doing most of this for 3.5 years.

So.........

You're literally given a number when you're born which you must have in order to work and make money in this country. The government knows how much money you make, where you live, what kind of car you drive and can literally eavesdrop on every telephone call and e-mail you send (hey if you're not a Muslim terrorist what do you care).

But a mask is about control? 01-wingedeagle

RE: OT- Corona Virus- Where do we go from here?
I'm sure some of you have read about the GA summer camp outbreak. If not you can read it here. Pretty widespread and these kids were obviously in much closer quarters for longer period of times than school children will be but the large number of positive cases is pretty eye opening. I was riding the fence about kids returning to school as I'd read that kids aren't spreading the virus like adults can but this is pretty evident that we don't know enough to confidently say that.

I mostly agree. Yet calling out this president is not a problem in 2020 America. NO ONE, no matter what their political leaning, has the slightest need to worry about publicly criticizing his constant nastiness and ignorance. No riots ensue when we see "Baby Trump" balloons displayed at parades. No one loses their job for wearing a Trump mask at a rodeo. No NYT editorial board member would get fired for printing an opinion piece from a U.S. senator that is critical, as opposed to supportive, of a Trump policy position.

And that's healthy. We want our population, and our media in particular, to be free to call out poor decision-making and bad behavior by this disaster of a president.

Unfortunately, it is the left (and only the left) that thinks itself immune from criticism. Mask wearing is a small example of the unacceptable topics for discussion among our enlightened left.
