Campus numbers, if truly accurate, seem to still be doing fantastic.

RE: COVID-19
There were a ton of false positives last week, multiple friends of mine thought they had contracted Covid, but good to know that's been resolved.

It looks like Pfizer is close on a vaccine, doesn't look like it will be generally available by the end of the year but there could be enough doses to protect ~25 million globally, hopefully we can get it to healthcare workers and the most vulnerable in the population, that would be enough to at least slow down the spread a lot.

Imagine that, promising vaccination announced a few days after the election.

Great news. This means Shumer can hold some more crowded celebratory speeches with no mask and maybe allow workers to make a living again.

You mean, arriving on the schedule they expected months ago?

Biden campaign statement got it right though. This is great news, but wear your mask until the approval process is over and the vaccine is actually available. Projections have it around 50 million this year (assuming no schedule delays) and billions by the end of next year. That's still not very much, relatively speaking. Hopefully the advances made in this one allow parallel vaccines to progress as well.

Pfizer's funding came from the German government, the election has nothing to do with it

So one out of about 156 people on the planet can get the vaccine with 50 million doses. Wanna guess the people who aren't getting it right away? How this plays out will show a lot about how we treat our fellow man.

You think the German government didn't hold the release of this until after the US election? You think it's pure coincidence? I think you have something to learn about the extent most countries are willing go to to influence foreign elections.

I hope, as stated earlier, initial doses will go to our most at risk, the first responders, then educators/those who see a lot of people each day, then world leaders, military and so on.

Guess we need to add multi-national drug companies to the list of conservative boogeymen.

Drug Companies
“Activist” Judges
Academics/Professors/Teachers
Journalists
Scientists
European Socialists
Election Officials

Like WMITB said, the timeline I’ve heard for months was that a vaccine could be ready as early as November and wouldn’t be mass produced until mid-2021. This announcement is not a surprise and fits the anticipated timeline! And let’s be clear, Trump is culpable for his mismanagement of the virus response the past 10 months. The arrival of a vaccine is great news, but it doesn’t bring back the 10’s of thousands that died needlessly. In particular it doesn’t bring back the hundreds that died as a direct result of his ego-driven and irresponsible campaign rallies (see Stanford Study and Hermain Cain). Disappointed you would assign a political motive to a multi-national company without a shred of evidence to back the claim.

Time for an extended break from these boards. The conservative political undercurrent in seemingly every other post is tiresome. I get it, older white males are a Trump demographic and we live in polarized times, but it's an athletics message board and while I have my own convictions I really don’t come here to unload political baggage. Glad the Tribe 7 are back and will focus on the ongoing efforts to keep them in the fold. See you all when there are actually some games to discuss.

I was thinking more outside the United States, underdeveloped nations, poorer countries, etc. I agree 100% on you comments about what roles within a country should get the vaccines.

Let's hope we have plenty for everyone.

RE: COVID-19
I didn’t vote for Trump either but find about half of the boogeyman list truly scary and very willing and capable of utilizing their bias against anyone that doesn’t fall in lock step with their ideology.

I’m also an ‘older’ white male as well. Lol. Actually a demographic whose shift away from trump helped seal Biden’s victory. Minorities (black, Asian, Latino) all shifted positively toward Trump.

All that said, Trump’s fate was sealed by his miserably poor handling of this pandemic. But a portion of the boogeyman list (certainly not all) tried their best to thwart his presidency all along. And they would have failed without the pandemic.

Lol! Equality!

There's a little known caveat in Title IX that requires young people to suck just as much.

There are less of them so they are allowed to suck more, per person.

With the recent spike in Covid cases, the Naval Academy Athletic Association has postponed most sporting events, including Navy Rugby’s planned trip to West Point this weekend.

Q, is that you?

Conspiracy theories make for interesting stories and things to think about. Presenting them as knowns and facts when there is zero or close to zero real evidence to back up the claims moves them from the non-fiction section to the fiction section of the virtual bookstore.

I am not for censorship, but I'd prefer if we keep this board to Tribe related content. There are places like Parler specifically set up to voice conspiracies.

I will take my comedy show elsewhere.

My wife doesn't appreciate my humor either.

FYI: W&M called last night to solicit a donation. I told the caller I would be
sending some money when I see continued progress from the new leaders in
the athletics dept.

Let's just stay focused on W&M.

*Some* people (not a majority) are over the place with staying on topic, follow it up with some non-W&M rant, then complain when someone calls them on it. If we all just stick to issues relevant to W&M, we'll be fine. Take the other stuff to Off Topic (aka Siberia).

I'm going to try very hard to take the high road. If I can do that, anyone can. Ha.
