Even if that best case happened there is a fall spike with this virus so even if the season starts it wont be able to finish

China is a bad model to use for spread rate based on crowding. Everywhere over there is basically at March madness level of Population density. It’s why viruses often start there. They are more prepared for these things by necessity. Its like saying San Francisco is more prepared for earthquakes than Lincoln Nebraska.

And don't forget where this whole thing started. Not saying it originated here, but Wuhan is home to one of China's covert biological warfare laboratories, the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Considering this is a new, never before seen strain... How could anyone know that it has a spike during the fall?

I’d assume viruses all behave very similarly. We are not talking about some alien virus. Viruses spread when it’s dry out. Fall isn’t dry.

The very same Chinese media you get your China information from now says the virus came from the US.
The very same US media that repeatedly called it the Wuhan virus last month now labels anyone calling it that as a racist bigot.
Today a "medical expert" in Ohio says 100,000 people in Ohio currently have Kung flu though only 5 have tested positive.
Believe whatever you want to believe seems to be the order of the day.
I believe if 100,000 people in Ohio currently have it, millions in Ohio will get it as they come in contact with unsuspected already infected friends, family, relatives, neighbors, coworkers, and Walmart; short of everyone staying in their homes under self quarantine, banning NCAA games ain't gonna be much a mitigation factor.
But I don't believe the above "medical expert".

The onset of the cold is favorable, which is why I think these type of viruses peak in the fall again

The canceling of sporting events has had a huge domino affect. All sorts of conferences and large public gatherings are being cancelled. It’s as much as a PSA as just a cancelling of an event. There’s a public and personal responsibility here. On the public side the cancelling of large gatherings where these viruses thrive is about all they can do. On the personal side it’s up to each individual to avoid at risk behavior. This is a community issue where no one should just sit by and say “there’s nothing we can do”.

This to me is the most dangerous part of this virus, which is not particularly life-threatening, you could have a huge whiplash economically and cause as much and likely more damage to life through economic damage. We have set a dangerous path of reaction, which is sustained over a year period, will cause a good deal of loss of life through economic impacts. You basically have sacrificed all large event gatherings through the fall/winter next year, and when you add up that economics over a year period, its a real dark picture!

The stock market was in a bubble anyway. I shifted some stocks into cash a few weeks back for that reason - but not enough of it, unfortunately.

It’s hard to weigh human well being and the economy. I’m never going to say - if it saves one life...blah blah blah. We sacrifice lives every day in this country just because we love alcohol. But this is a pandemic. It’s going to have negative ramifications. Let’s see where this thing is at in a month before we start declaring anything unnecessary.

COVID-19 transmits through fecal matter. It can also transmit as far as 6 feet to other people. This is why you should rush to stock up toiletpaper. Farting within 6 feet of someone can give them coronavirus.
