You should know since you have one of the biggest agendas of all.

First the NCAA cans Wiseman
Then they can our conference tourney

They knew were were going to win it all and this is the nuclear option to stop us...

Seriously, though. The writing is on the wall that the NCAA tourney will be cancelled, and it's the right thing to do.

China built hospitals in days. Italy shut itself down. But sure, America is supposedly over reacting. Sure. Idiots.

RE: AAC tourney cancelled
They're saying that this might have been around for a minute and I agree. Last March my wife and I went overseas to bury her Mother as she had wished, we came and went through Shanghai China due to really good fares. On the way back we were sitting in the middle 4 seat row with a lucky extra seat because of a no-show on the Shanghai to NYC flight, the 4th seat was occupied by a Chinese cat that sneezed and coughed all the way to JFK. We caught whatever it was and even though we never had a fever over 100, it was the most miserable crap I've ever had, lasted 2 full months. I tried to get doctors appointments for us, but we were new patients under our new insurance and couldn't get an appointment for over a month away and figured it would be over by then. Nope! It was upper respiratory in nature and made you feel like deep fried cow patties. This could have been Corvid-19 or one of the precursors to the current strain.

A lot of Chine is pretty rough, no insects left to pollinate crops, has to be done with imported pollen and by hand. There are some beautiful places in China, don't get me wrong, but a lot of areas have been hit hard with pollution and the neglect of everything that has anything to do with protecting the environment. The human population in these places have taken to finding their protein in wild animals that are not usually used for such and the people don't have much of a clue as to what diseases these animals can transmit to humans (remember AIDS/HIV and other diseases came from eating "Bush Meat" or primate meat). This is what tends to happen when you let bureaucrats who don't know squat run things in a country, the people are not safe. Count yourselves lucky living here in the US.

I really hate to not be able to see my Tigers through the American tournament, but I guess it's for the best.

The auto bid to what?

NCAAs

Most major companies are canacelling ALL major events (internal and external facing) through end of April. Based on the China timeline and our late reaction, have a month minimum before this thing starts to hit plateau. NCAA tourney is extremely unlikely to happen.

Most likely this will peak in March. No flu in the time of records has ever peaked in a month past March. There have been flu seasons that lasted into May, but peak cases has never occurred past March.

If that holds, we should be in excellent shape. If this doesn't act like the flu's from before, then we are in uncharted territory.

I was so looking forward to the Tigers playing tonight and beating Tulsa tomorrow to avenge our 40 pt embarrassment, but I know it was the right thing to to do. I just knew after the NBA suspended games that the tourneys would be next. It just took longer than I thought.

Those teams that have are going to benefit, assuming there is a NCAA tournament.

There won’t be an NCAA tournament.

Likely not

Possible there will be one in mid April.

But it just feels like all larger gatherings are being put on hold, not permanently, but for a period of time while the scientists work

It sucks

And no cure will be developed but enough may be learned that we will be down to normal risks

We cancel events when weather gets really bad, even if we don’t when the weather is just bad, which surely leads to some deaths

We all take reasonable risks every day. I think due to the massive growth of this in Italy and having no cure, we just wanted get to that point. Memphis schools start Spring Break tomorrow now instead of Monday and right now the break is two weeks, not one. College breaks are being extended and many are simply canceling classes and deferring to online

While this all may be an over reaction, it is certainly not an unreasonable reaction

It amplifies how much we enjoy our leisure. Athletics, movies, concerts, yes, school and more

Just like thousands still die driving cars, thousands less die because we have made them safer over the decades. This feels like that

Well said. Time to be smart n safe.
