YES - Where’s SMU?

fine

That’s good, but maybe Navy should be in the East. It’s their call. And maybe we could get Air Force to join us in the west. We could probably offer them more money, exposure, and better competition than they can get in the MWC.

Also I think Tech will go wherever UT goes and Okla St will be left behind. Oh and you left out Tulane and East Carolina in the East and Tulsa in the West. So if you add both Iowa St. and West Virginia you would have 17 teams. It looks like you would have to go to 18 teams or jetison someone which probably won’t happen. You could add either Air Force or Rice in the West to balance out at 18.

Tulane will be in East

That’s what I said. Of course this all depends on the Big XII coming apart.

College athletic conference finalizes plans for move to North Texas
The American Athletic Conference is moving from Rhode Island to Irving.

10:26 AM on May 20, 2020

One of the country’s top collegiate athletic organizations is moving its main offices to North Texas, and it’s already expanding.

The American Athletic Conference has leased 18,000 square feet of space at The Summit at Las Colinas building on State Highway 114 in Irving.

The conference, of which Southern Methodist University is a member, will move 30 employees to its new location this summer from Providence, R.I. The organization had originally planned to lease about 14,000 square feet but decided on a larger space.

“We have enjoyed our time in Providence, but with the current geographical composition and footprint of our league, Dallas is a better fit for us and our institutions,” Mike Aresco, commissioner of the AAC, said in a statement. “Our headquarters will be located in a major market and closer to many of our schools.

“We are also looking forward to interacting with other collegiate conferences and institutions in the metro area,” he said. “With the College Football Playoff and the National Football Foundation, together with several collegiate conferences headquartered there, Dallas can make a legitimate claim to be the national epicenter of college sports.”

The American Athletic Conference now includes 13 schools: SMU, the University of Central Florida, the University of Cincinnati, East Carolina University, the University of Connecticut, the University of Houston, the University of Memphis, the U.S. Naval Academy, the University of South Florida, Temple University, Tulane University, the University of Tulsa and Wichita State University (in basketball and Olympic sports).

The conference is moving to a 19-story office building owned by California-based Gemini Rosemont Commercial Real Estate.

The new space will include 30-plus private offices, a commissioner’s office suite, two executive office suites, a guest office suite, conference rooms, a production studio, a recording studio and a command center for monitoring television broadcasts.

Gordon Highlander is the construction contractor for the project, and CallisonRTKL is the architect. Gemini Rosemont is also working on plans to renovate the common areas of the building.

“We chose The Summit because it is an extremely attractive and well-managed state-of-the-art building that will offer unparalleled amenities for our office staff and visiting membership in the heart of the Dallas metro-area business community,” said Aresco. “We will enjoy the central location, access to the outstanding nearby airports, and to the desirable residential areas, restaurants and many cultural attractions in the region.”

JLL’s Conor McCarthy, Jeremy McGown, James Esquivel and Ahnie Sheehy negotiated the lease.

Other tenants in the building include College Football Playoff, Insperity Support Services, Nexstar Media Group, Highgate Hotels, JP Morgan Chase, Guidon Energy and General Motors.

Have we already moved? Something Aresco said in one the more recent interviews gave me the impression the office staff has already moved.

The last thing I saw from him about a month ago was it was on hold.

Interesting that they took a much larger space, but they got a real good deal on rent.

He said everything is moving forward. They’re getting close. He talked about looking for houses virtually as being a weird experience. Aresco also mentioned that the TV studio will be finished in time to host shows and broadcast from hq. I took that to mean remote location broadcasts as a cost savings mechanism.

Don't worry the AAC will backfill to 12 for football with Rice for all sports and rebrand itself as the SouthWest Conference (SWC) to become a P6 Conference with full access to the Collège Playoff Higher Archy leaving the rest of the G4 and Independents behind. 04-jawdrop 04-jawdrop 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-shhhh 03-shhhh COGS COGS 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 04-cheers

I do like the strategic thinking in locating the AAC HQ in the same building as the CFP. 04-cheers
