Well if we make the tournament, don't plan on attending the game (unless you're a family member). NCAA announced no fans for tournament games this year.

Sorry I guess that's a duplicate post from the other thread.

UTEP, Marshall (in OT), Louisiana Tech and Charlotte were today's winners.

Quote:Conference USA will implement a restricted attendance procedure for the remainder of the 2020 Air Force Reserve Conference USA Basketball Championships presented by Baylor Scott & White Sports Performance Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, following consultation with the NCAA, local authorities and related health and safety officials.

All remaining games will be played with the official team party, student-athlete family, credentialed media, television and radio crews, and essential personnel. The event will be closed to the general public.

I joked about it yesterday but the reality hits different today.

NBA has postponed games.
Other leagues are doing the same.

Yet my whole family is now heading to an arena to watch my baby sis play in her conference tournament in about 10min.

NCAA... are we sure about this?

Interesting note: We're about 30 minutes from tipoff between
@HerdWBB
and Rice and Marshall has yet to take the floor.

Not sure if that is a strategic move to save energy after yesterday's OT game, but they haven't been out yet.

Just guessing at the numbers, but in general, if you have 300 people in a 5000 capacity arena, people don't have have to sit jammed up next to each other, right?

Reminds me of some of the Rice-TCU (in FW) and Rice-Baylor (in Waco) games I attended in the 80's. I could have 500 empty seats around me.

Also, there's a big difference between indoor and outdoors with regard to ventilation, etc. Surprised so many schools and conferences are instituting "no attendance" policies for baseball games. Even the SEC has done so. Still awaiting word from Rice and CUSA. I was told this morning that Karlgaard is meeting with Leebron this morning.

What I have heard is that 3 feet of separation is enough. I know that is not proven by extensive research, but it sounds reasonable.

So if you want to sit with your family, you can. But you don't have to.

Big10, SEC and ACC have all just now cancelled their basketball tournaments. Still awaiting word from CUSA, as the Rice women sit on the bench.

CUSA just finally cancelled it's tournament.

We get the auto-bid if there is an NCAA March Madness.

@ConferenceUSA
Conference USA has officially announced the cancellation of the remainder of the 2020 Air Force Reserve C-USA Basketball Championships, effective immediately.

Teams were already shooting before tipoff.

Looks like SEC is about to cancel baseball, or at least suspend the season for awhile. LSU players just instructed to take bags off bus to Ole Miss, and report for team meeting.

Why is Rice and CUSA waiting so long to make what appears to be an inevitable decision? Some of us have travel plans to cancel.

Pac-12 and CAA just followed suit. ALL spring sporting events have been cancelled.

There will be. There's just way too much money to be made for the NCAA from these tournaments, especially the men's (the revenue from attendance and TV rights basically funds all other NCAA championship tournaments in all sports in all divisions, although I guess there won't be much attendance revenue this year). We'll all just have to watch the games on TV.

Possibly. But if you look at the wording of the C-USA announcement, it does NOT state that the tournaments were being canceled. It states that "all spring sport competition for Conference USA institutions is suspended."

Big conferences are announcing cancellation of tournaments, but C-USA has gone a step further and announced suspension of all spring sports.

Cancelled ==> ticket refund
Suspended ==> no refund

WBB Conference Tournament 2020
Also, effectively declining CUSA’s probable four spots in the men’s and women’s tourney.

It won’t take too many more conferences making announcements like this for the NCAA to pull the plug.

CUSA is hardly out in front on this. SEC has also suspended all spring sports. Are there any P5 conferences that have not?
