2020-21 Hoops
So here's what I see as the starting lineup next season ...
G - Soph. Tyson Walker
G - Junior Shaq Walters (on the broadcast they said Shaq was granted another year by the NCAA)
F - Redshirt Sr. Senior Max Boursiquot
F - Redshirt Jr. Tomas Murphy
F - Redshirt Jr. Jason Strong
Bench ...
F - Redshirt Jr. Geg Eboigboden
G/F Freshman Coleman Stucke
G Senior Myles Franklin
F - Junior Chris Doherty (2nd-semester transfer from Notre Dame)
G - Soph. Quirin Emanga
G - Soph. Vito Cubrilo
F - Redshirt Freshman Connor Braun
Truthfully, we need another shooting guard. Recruit AJ Staton would be perfect if he decides to come to NU. Maybe 5th year transfer could fill that role too.
I could also see Stucke or even Emanga starting. I can't see Franklin, unless he makes a big leap this summer, starting for NU.
This team will still contend for a title again.

RE: 2020-21 Hoops
Walters getting another year is fantastic news. I missed that. The progress he made this year was incredible.
I think your 20/21 lineup is right for now. I also think that the staff will come up with a two guard which would move Strong back to the bench and I would LOVE it if AJ was the one. It'll be interesting to see hoe Stucke fits in. He's an amazing shooter but will play in the frontcourt.

So here's what NU has so far ...
G - Soph. Tyson Walker
G - Junior Shaq Walters
F - Redshirt Sr. Junior Greg Eboigboden
F - Redshirt Jr. Jason Strong
F - Freshman Coleman Stucke
Bench ...
G/F - Freshman J'Vonne Hadley
F - Junior Chris Doherty (2nd-semester transfer from Notre Dame)
G - Soph. Quirin Emanga
G - Soph. Vito Cubrilo
F - Redshirt Freshman Connor Braun
I feel we still need another shooting guard. Recruit AJ Staton would still be a perfect fit if he decides to come to NU.

RE: 2020-21 Hoops
That's the best news that men's basketball has had in a looong time. When we offered I looked around and the first thing I saw were his other offers. Not much there but when we offered AJ Stanton his offers were similar. The more I read the more I liked him. I don't put much faith in highlight tapes but I found a complete game from last year and started watching it. He looked really good but I stopped watching it figuring that I'd watch the rest of it if we signed him. Now I have something to do tonight!

The second YouTube video I posted was a condensed game. But I agree about highlight videos. They also don't show how good a player is defensively, unless it's a big man.

Ten down.....three to go. I agree on AJ. If he signs with us he's the two. He's a great two way player and we need a strong defensive backcourt mate with some size for Tyson. J'vonne's future is probably upfront but he could play the two if needed. A big is still on my wishlist....maybe a transfer.

NU missed out on Mark Gasperini from American (he committed to UMass).

Wow! Because I saw a seven or eight of Stucke's games I saw a lot of Nwanga, too. He's not a big scorer yet but HUGE on the boards! He's one of those guys that believes every rebound is his. Eleven down, two to go.

I figured you did see a lot of him.
I love the fact that he’s a rim protector and loves to run on the floor.
Walker has some nice new toys to play with! ?

There is a much longer highlight reel (almost eight minutes long) on his verbal Commit page. If you haven't seen it you should check it out. It gives a better picture of his aggressiveness on both ends of the court and how he runs the floor.

There are also three or four full games on Youtube if this shelter in place thing lasts much longer. He didn't start, mainly because he was a poor man's version of the star of the team.....a guy they called "M A" who wound up signing with Oklahoma State...so it would be harder to find his minutes.

RE: 2020-21 Hoops
Okay. I had a chance to look at his stats. But here is the problem....I couldn't find what his minutes per game were. Five bigs got almost all the time and he was either fourth or fifth in mpg. Once I heard that he had committed to JMU I always noticed when he came in but it wasn't like he was in there a lot. Anyway, he got 8.9 points per game on .570 shooting. Not bad for a role player. Rebounds were 8.1 per game. That would be great for a starter and he was second on the team for ORs. Blocks for the season were at 23. The next highest on the team was eleven. Steals were at fifteen....fifth on the team. This, combined with the Verbal Commits video makes me think we landed another good one.
PS. I don't think we poached him from a fellow conference member. He committed to JMU early and his stock rose while JMU hit a really rough patch. His teammate (Stucke) may have had something to do with his change of heart.

No we didn’t steal him away from JMU. They had a coaching change, so that likely the reason he decommitted.
I love Nwagha’s energy and hustle. He may not contribute much next year, but once he develops his game he could be a force for NU.

Okay. I knew they lost a lot of games and that some guys transferred. I didn't
know about the coaching change.

Yes, it is. With last year's class, with the exception of Tyson, we were almost flying blind. We had no film and no stats on two of the recruits so we had to rely on Coen's record of finding diamonds in the rough. And they were downside surprises in year one and Braun is still an unknown although we had at least some highlight film on him.
With this class we have lots of full games for Coleman and Alex and one or two full games for Chris and J'vonne. There are so many fewer question marks this year! We still have two more to go but this could be a really good class especially if we get our number one wish.
