RE: All Conference:
Without Trevon Scott this team isn’t close to winning the league or even in the conversation for any type of post season bid.

Precious will win POY for putting Memphis on his back and almost singlehandedly leading them to a 6 seed in the conference tournament. 03-lmfao

All the smoke!

That said kudos to our guys, and way to go for Tre. Definitely didn't think this was going to be the case at the end of December. Big, big comeback on his part.

Anyone want to speculate who did not vote Tre first team? With his numbers, and the #1 seed, speculation?

Well he didn't really have all that good of a performance in either of our Wichita State games:

@ WSU: 9 points and 11 boards
vs. WSU: 8 points and 11 boards

He also had downright bad games against SMU and Tulane:

vs. SMU: 3 points and 9 boards
@ Tulane: 3 points and 6 boards (and 8 assists)

While they're good numbers, those don't scream 1st team if that is your only exposure to him. I'd venture a guess at any of those three schools being the one to not vote him 1st. Certainly wouldn't be Houston, Memphis, UConn, UCF, USF, or ECU given his performances...he was ok against Tulsa and Temple.

It's judgmental, but a coach should vote on a player's entire body of work. Not games against you/him. Under that criteria, no way he's not a top 5 player in this league this year, not to mention his team gets #1 seed. That said, they swept WS and Temple. I doubt it's Ron Hunter who didn't vote for him.

They were only finishing 5th when tubby was running the show. Have to credit him for really bringing Memphis back.

I mean, Penny is in his second year of coaching competitive basketball at ANY level (AAU doesn't count). He lost one of the best players in the country after 3 games (probably his fault, but still) and had a few more key injuries along the way. For as good as his recruiting class was, they're still incredibly young and primarily composed of mid-top 100 recruits and a few young stars like Achiuwa. Imagine having a team full of Zach Harvey's and then a Tre Scott. And despite all of that they still nearly made the tournament. I'll wait to see what type of sanctions they're hit with, but I think the jury is still very much out on Penny Hardaway. If he lands a few five stars in the next 3 years I think he can legit get them to final four contention. We'll see.

RE: All Conference:
One thing that hasn’t been discussed on here is Keith Williams not getting selected to 2nd or even 3rd Team All conference. Feel like he should have gotten at least a 3rd Team selection and probably a 2nd Team. Am I the only one that feels that way?

He had a good year, but I can't make a strong argument for him over any of the selections.

Think he has an extremely strong argument

Credit to compiling the stats goes to the following on Twitter

https://twitter.com/bgbearcat/status/123...33507?s=21

If you take PPG, AST, STL, BLK, TO, REB, FT%, FG% and 3PT% he compares very favorable and those are probably the most important stats. He finishes ahead of at least 2 players in every category and if you average them he has the 4th best average. All while having 2 All Conference 1st Team players to split touches with. In the games he was called upon to carry the load he showed why he deserves it as well as in the OT game against ECU where he was the reason we pulled that game out after Jarron fouled out.
