RE: FBS Attendance In Decline
A good example of why we need to renovate the north endzone and make it another fan driven area.

Give us the endzone that Colorado State has, connect the east and west stands, get O'Connors to sponsor it and call it a day.

yep. Wouldnt cost that much from the looks of it, and could easily be expanded when the time comes. My guess is Aramark wouldnt allow it.

What an absolutely fantastic idea. O'Connor is an ODU guy too (Wish he'd show it more in his establishment).

It would look even better with a huge elevated video scoreboard over it too. That would close it in some and contain noise. Height matters, and filling in the corners does too when considering aesthetics and crowd noise.

I still think the best case, if money didn't matter, would be to build an academic building there with a beautiful historic facade keeping with the same look as Rollins. Make the bottom floor open for the O'Connor Zone. It would give it a nice historic touch, but it may look kind of funky with the modern stadium. Then put a scoreboard on top of that sucker.

I think that looks awful.... aesthetically speaking....but I also think its a great idea. I hate how crowded and closed off the beer gardens area is.

And attendance is only going to get worse. The size of the stadium was a good idea but something like this also allows to meet additional demand (standing room only) on the rare cases where it will be needed. (VT)

This is still a great idea, and the money should be able to come from a different pool than athletics since its an academic building. Bolt some seating to the back of it, add a nice third floor terrace on the back that can be used for hosting academic gatherings and be open for game day and it could really look nice, be truly dual purpose and financially doable. Seems the state could legitimately pay for everything except the seating bolted to the back and the scoreboard on top.

I agree with it looks awful, and its not a bad idea.

I bet that would drop our capacity below 18,500.

Don't the north end zone bleachers seat ~4k fans? It would drop the capacity to just above the minimum required for FBS.

The north end zone project should include something like this, in addition to seating for ~4K.

I think a standing room only area would be really popular. Many fans go to a game looking for a party atmosphere, and only occasionally stop to watch the game.

Yep, and if you make the tickets 10 bucks and make it a beer garden, it should be enough to draw some of the general public we just aren't reaching right now. Then there is an opportunity to develop long-term fans.
