So we lose 52% of the minutes played and 61% of the points scored due to Van Vliet, Barnes, Hamilton and Knight graduating or running out of eligibility. In other words, the players coming back next season accounted for 48% of minutes and 39% of points. Huge loss in both categories. Means a lot more since we haven't traditionally reloaded with transfers.
Ah!, Thanks for the explanation. Yup, the need for bigs looms large.

Figured this was better suited to this thread than the Transfers thread...

I wouldn't be surprised to see Milkereit or Kochera redshirt to help ease the glut of forwards we have.
Hamilton didn't start over Blair this year, Blair was in a rotation with AVV & Knight. As for Scott, I don't think he ever really got over his foot injury. If he recovers completely, he'll start like he did at the start of this season.
I think it's going to be a tear down. We have to start playing for the 2021 season and onward. This is first real recruiting class (done in a normal way). I expect the recruits to play and the hold overs from Shaver phase out. Loewe and Blair will play.
It wouldn't be unheard of for a coach to focus on players he brought in, but it also wouldn't be unheard of for mid-major freshmen to need a year of seasoning. Ayesa and Hermanovskis are his recruits as well. Thornton Scott's strengths and weaknesses have been well documented here throughout the season, but most of that was after his first significant injury. It is harder to project however, given that basically all our experience here is with Coach Shaver's tendencies and that Coach Fischer was certainly in a unique situation last year.

Delaware is the team to beat next year. They pretty much return everybody that contributed while every other team in the CAA got significantly worse.
With all of the good players leaving the CAA (either through transfer or graduation), the conference is going to be very awful next year...

UNCW isn't losing any players at this point and added a much needed PG. Also added a new coach that is going to bring back the Keatts Run-Defend-Win press that did ok in the CAA.

It's not fun to be talking about the offseason right now for Men's Basketball, but I believe that the team should try to go after a big on the transfer market that would give the team much needed depth in the front court with the departures of Nathan Knight and Andy Van Vliet.
An intriguing name is Evan Cole from Georgia Tech. The 6'9" forward has averaged 4.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, & 12.6 minutes per game for the Yellow Jackets, and he's graduating in May with a degree in Business Administration. He would add to a frontcourt with Quinn, Mehkel, and Ben https://t.co/t7ipUvGwaq

This looks like as good a place as any to relay the news, as per today's Daily Press, that a blast from the past...our former guard of some years ago who transferred to UVA...that's right, Calvin Baker...has been named an assistant coach at James Madison.

20-21 MBB Thoughts & Look Ahead
Richmond has a nice OOC schedule this season...never want us. I can't wait for the day we give them the middle finger.
Cincinnati, Kentucky, Northern Iowa, Colorado State, Charleston, Vanderbilt and ODU.

RE: 20-21 MBB Thoughts & Look Ahead
h/t to tribeinexile, I thought I'd re-post here to discuss it's impacts on next season.
From my reading it seems like Yuri is going to be PG right off the bat or at least that's Dane's hope. I think the starting lineup is going to look something like this:
1 - Covington
2 - Loewe
3 - ???
4 - Blair
5 - Wight
Really don't know who we'll be playing at the 3 spot or if Dane will go with a 3 guard (or even 4 guard at times) line-up or with a more traditional look. I think Scott, Milkereit, Kochera, Ayesa, and Hermanovskis will all get the opportunity to start, or at least play, there. I'm also curious to see how our sub patterns work out. We could have Scott backing up Covington at the point or Dane may want to put multiple combo guards on the court at once. Luke can obviously handle the ball too. I think we'll likely see Harvey as a backup only at the 5 with Stone backing up Blair at the 4.

RE: 20-21 MBB Thoughts & Look Ahead
I can't disagree with you, especially about Covington. His skills seem similar to Barnes. Different body type though. From what I saw on tape and from last year at HC, Wight isn't really like either VV or Nate. He plays inside 15 feet and has real good footwork, but more finesse than power. I think you will see the two other freshmen in the rotation if not starting. The thing we need to remember is that Dane is in this thing for the long haul (or at least we hope so). He may just go with the kids he's recruited. I could see 20/21 as a lost season especially if no fans attend the games and the team can't start working out together soon. Team leadership and chemistry will be tricky.

RE: 20-21 MBB Thoughts & Look Ahead
We'll see how quickly freshmen get to play, but I'll be surprised if our backcourt isn't Loewe and Scott on day 1. It'll be interesting to see if Ayesa gets a start, but I would expect to see a three man rotation of Blair, Wight, and Harvey at the 4/5. Starting spots are probably up for grabs and might change throughout the season. Kochera, Stone, Milkereit figure out the backup spots at the 3 and sometimes 4, Hermanovskis and Covington are the backup guards. I expect a big jump from Rainers, but if he doesn't improve he could easily get passed on the depth chart. He and Ayesa showed the best court sense on defense last year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kochera or Milkereit red shirt, unless Harvey or Wight doesn't figure in the rotation at the 5. One year in and it's nice to see that we're already with more potential talent than there are minutes to go around.

If true, I'd be stoked to have a game @ GW
Edit: Well, assuming we have fans at games I'd be stoked, which seems unlikely
