Bubble Comparisons - 3/9
Worked this up for my reference but I'll post it here. Data is as of the Morning of 3/9. Each line is a bubble team. Red means their resume is worse in the category mentioned, Green means it's better. No fill means it's a judgement call. So more red on this chart is better for each team I'm comparing (top team on each sheet).
On the quadrants - It's hard to compare, but if teams had a similar winning percentage, I gave the edge to the team with more wins. If it was within 1 win/loss of being equal, I left it as neutral.
It was easy enough to modify the WSU sheet to also do Cincy and Memphis so I'll post those in following posts.

RE: Bubble Comparisons - 3/9
Great stuff. Thanks for putting this together.
As far as UC goes, this makes sense. Our selling points are a really strong overall Q1/Q2 record, elite SOS, solid metrics, and high average win rank. Our negatives are the bad losses, and our lack of high end Q1 wins.
It's so close. It all comes down to what the committee values. Do they say "best win/worst loss" is most important, or do they say "Strong SOS and rate .500+ record against above average teams"?

Probably will point to the power conference teams 1-3 “big” wins and ignore all the losses. Kind of funny only Memphis cincy and Wichita have winning q1/2 combined records

The way the ranking worked out this year, the AAC ended up with a metric ton of Q2 games, and little Q1 in conference. This means that the tourney candidates (Hou, WSU, UC) have great Q2 records but meh Q1 records.
My fear, and I believe this will end up being the case, is that the committee ignores a lot of the mid-level Q2 wins we all have, and we see top end wins heavily valued, even if the Q1 record is lopsidedly poor.
It's not a good year to be in the American. The league was pretty bad in the OOC and we will pay for it next Sunday IMO.

That's happening to Memphis in lots of brackets. We had 6 losses by 5 points or less, or in OT, without Wiseman, but also without DJ Jeffries.
Win 4 of those 6 and we would be 25-6 (14-4), Top 15 or 20, and AAC champs.
I think we can make it in if we get to the finals and have a close loss, but that requires us to beat Tulsa and UH on a neutral court. I think we fall short and get a 1 or 2 seed in the NIT.

This conference is weird. We drop when we win and stay put or move up when we lose.

How does Purdue have a net of 33? Hasn't like 33 teams beat them this year.

ETSU just won an autobid so you can take them off the bubble.
