2019/2020 Final AAC Hoops Attendance
Overall Announced Attendance Average Rankings

1) Memphis 16,312
2) Cincinnati 11,100
3) Wichita St 10,315
4) UCONN 9,199
5) Houston 6,718
6) Temple 6,425
7) UCF 5,049
8) SMU 4,395
9) Tulsa 4,043
10) ECU 3,931
11) usf 3,754
12) Tulane 1,743

Ave overall announced attendance: 7,065

We were down from 11,256 from last year, but that's not bad considering all the adversity the team went through this year with a coaching change, player defections, Jarron's injury, more losses than in prior years, etc. I think we'll increase it in the upcoming seasons.

RE: 2019/2020 Final AAC Hoops Attendance
I've never understood Temple's attendance woes. Yeah the school is in the middle of the hood, but there are 6M people in the Philly metro, 40K students and the program has a long history of success (despite being bad this year).

You'd figure Tulsa would have better attendance given there is not much else to do in Tulsa. Yeah the enrollment is small and they have a limited number of alums, but they do not compete with pro sports.

They haven't been good in a long time. I know they've made the tournament occasionally but not compete for league titles and advance in the NCAAs good. They are a college team in professional sports town and I believe the Sixers have a strong local following with a directly overlapping season; the Flyers overlap Temple as well. Even for the size of that market it's probably over saturated for sports.

Agreed. I think it becomes the hottest ticket in town again with FCC struggling, the Bengals woes and the Reds string of last place finishes. Number one in the city in college basketball attendance again these past two years. Proper order is being restored.

Want me to explain it to you? And the hood stuff is a joke.

RE: 2019/2020 Final AAC Hoops Attendance
Philly has an insane amount of Universities in a small region. I believe Drexel is literally right across the street from Penn. And of course it's a huge city with a bunch of professional teams. I'd guess they suffer from some split allegiances and a lack of true hype surrounding the program. A top 15-type year like the one Dayton is having would do wonders to rejuvenate their fan base. But I'd guess right now, many people in the city only tangentially follow the Owls and don't have the embedded passion a lot of Cincinnatians do.

Yeah, that's pretty rich coming from one of our fans. Until the last decade or so, I would have felt more comfortable in North Philadelphia than parts of Clifton. Now, they're equally great urban neighborhoods (although North Philly slays Clifton in food selection). Temple's attendance isn't awful, and it'll go up again once the team starts winning at the level their fans have been accustomed to.

I know Memphis had a buzz this season [especially before the Wiseman fiasco] but their "announced" number seems a bit high when you compare it to everybody else on the list. Tulane - community college level. SMDH.

Furthermore on Tulane, there ain't a bad seat in the place with only 4,000 capacity. I know they've stunk for some time but how can you not get 4,000 butts in seats? Shoot, raffle off a few thousand for $8.99 a seat. Give away free pizza. Do something to make an effort!

I did not word my post correctly- what I meant to say is the argument people say is the neighborhood, just (as you said) we used to get in our city.

Tulane really does not belong.

Do they still play in Fogelman? It's the smallest arena in the league.
